Meet our new members

We’ve just added some new names to Healthway’s Research Assessment Committee, and we’re thrilled to introduce them to you.

Dr Janelle Caddy is an Anglo/Idda-Wadjerri researcher and lecturer at Edith Cowan University. She brings extensive experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, Indigenous education, decolonising research methodologies and community-centred research.

Dr Hamsini Sivaramakrishnan is a Senior Research Fellow at Curtin University's enAble Institute. Her work focuses on helping people lead healthier, more active lives, with a strong interest in equity and improving health outcomes across diverse communities.

Together, Dr Caddy and Dr Sivaramakrishnan bring a wealth of expertise and insight that will help strengthen Healthway's research program and support evidence-based approaches to improving the health and wellbeing of Western Australians.

Fuelling up at the TeeMates Tour

Healthway and Golf WA are driving healthier sporting experiences through the Fuel to Go & Play TeeMates Tour.

Young golfers are building their skills on and off the course, with access to healthier food and drink options and practical nutrition education to support performance, recovery and wellbeing.

Together, we’re creating opportunities for children and young people across Western Australia to stay active, feel supported and pursue their sporting goals, from regional communities right through to the national stage.

Mentorship through Hip Hop

"Through this program we’ve seen young people build deep confidence in themselves through the music they create.” – Flewnt BlakSounds Lead Facilitator

BlakSounds is a Hip Hop mentorship program from the City of Melville that empowers Aboriginal children and young people to share their stories, strengthen their voices and express themselves through music.

Thanks to support through the latest round of the Creativity and Wellbeing for Young People Program, a joint initiative of Healthway and the Department of Creative Industries WA, BlakSounds has returned in 2026, enabling more young people to participate in this culturally safe and welcoming program, building confidence, connection and social and emotional wellbeing through creativity.

Making active travel easier across WA

Are you a regular rider in Albany or Geraldton? We’d love to hear from you.

Healthway is partnering with
WestCycle to help make walking, wheeling and riding routes safer, more accessible and easier to navigate across regional WA.

WestCycle is developing regional travel maps for Albany and Geraldton, and we want local insight into the routes you actually use. Tell us about the routes that are quiet, have smooth surfaces and feature connected paths that make getting around by bike easier.

Your feedback will help shape printed and online maps, making it easier for more people in your community to walk, ride, wheel and explore your local area.

Turning public health plans into action

Has your local government recently published a Public Health Plan? Healthway can help bring it to life through our Public Health Plan Activation Grants.

Funding is available for activities which support or complement strategies identified in Public Health Plans that encourage communities to lead healthier lifestyles and align with Healthway’s priority health areas.

Greener streets, healthier communities

Trees play a vital role in creating healthier, cooler and more liveable communities. They encourage people to spend time outdoors, provide shade, support biodiversity and contribute to children's health and development.

To help grow Western Australia's urban canopy, the WA Government is offering rebates for residents to purchase up to five native trees for their backyard.
