Kenepuru Road from Onahau Road to the Heads, and its side roads remains restricted to residents, emergency and essential services. Daytime closures remain on Kenepuru Road from Onahau Road. Weekdays from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5pm, with a 3.30pm finish on Fridays. From Tuesday 17 December, the resident only restriction on the length of Kenepuru Road will be lifted following a final safety review. Water taxi and barge subsidies will no longer apply after this date. Moetapu Bay Road remains closed to all traffic from 9am to 3pm, with openings on the hour until Friday 13 December, to allow for the construction of a road retreat at Elephant Point. Daytime construction closures on Tepuia Heights will be in place from Friday 6 December for drainage upgrades, on weekdays between 10am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 4pm. Tara Bay Road will be closed to all traffic on weekdays from Monday 2 December, for drainage upgrades and road reinstatement works. From Tuesday 10 to Friday 13 December, closures will be in place on Awatere Valley Road, approximately 2km past Jordan Bridge, between 9am to 3pm. Please see the road closure section for more information on the above closures. Work continues on multiple construction sites in the French Pass. The new Waihopai Valley bridge upstream of the current temporary bailey bridge is now complete with work on the road approach taking shape. Please ensure you keep to the reduced temporary speed limits when travelling through worksites to ensure the safety of our crews and road users. We thank you for your patience. Road closures |

Kenepuru Road - Water Tank slip Kenepuru Road from the Onahau Road intersection is closed to all traffic from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5pm Monday to Thursday. On Friday the closure will be in place from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 3.30pm. A 98m retaining wall is being constructed at the Water Tank slip site, along with drainage upgrades and road reinstatement. Outside of the closure days and times, works will be carried out under stop/go traffic management with up to 15 minute delays. If you have any concerns, please contact recovery@marlboroughroads.com. --------------------------------------------------- Moetapu Bay Road Moetapu Bay Road, approximately 2km from the start of the road is closed to all traffic, on weekdays from 9am to 3pm with hourly openings. These closures will remain in place until Friday 13 December. Outside of the closure day and times outlined above, work will be carried out under stop/go traffic management. Please expect delays. --------------------------------------------------- Tepuia Heights - Queen Charlotte Drive Daytime construction closures will be in place on Tepuia Heights, from Friday 6 to Thursday 19 December on weekdays between 10am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 4pm. These closures are for the upgrade of culverts, other stormwater upgrades and road reinstatement works. Work will be completed outside of these times under stop/go traffic management, please expect delays. --------------------------------------------------- Tara Bay - Kenepuru Tara Bay Road will be closed to all traffic from Monday 2 December between 7.30am and 5.30pm on weekdays, to allow for drainage updates and road reinstatement works. --------------------------------------------------- Awatere Valley Road - Awapiri Awatere Valley Road approximately 2km up the valley from Jordan Bridge, will be closed to all traffic from Tuesday 10 to Friday 13 December between 9am and 3pm, for drilling invesigation works. |

Resident access restriction on Kenepuru Road to be lifted on 17 December |
||
From Tuesday 17 December, the resident only restriction wll be removed from the length of Kenepuru Road, and its side roads, following a final safety inspection. Vehicle restrictions will remain at 12.6m long and six tonnes in weight although a permit for a vehicle outside this length and weight can be applied for in advance. Permits may require pilotage, depending on the overall length of the vehicle and the time of travel. To apply for a permit for an over dimension vehicle to travel on Kenepuru Road, email recovery@marlboroughroads.com or call 0800 213 213. Please note that a minimum of two working days are needed to process a permit request. With the removal of the resident only restrictions on Kenepuru Road from Tuesday 17 December, the transport subsidies that have been provided for barging, water taxi and air services will no longer apply. Until 17 December, Kenepuru Road from Onahau Road to the Heads, and its side roads, Moetapu Bay Road and Te Mahia Road remain restricted to residents, emergency and essential services. Entry into this section of Kenepuru Road is at resident and emergency or essential service drivers' discretion. Residents only are permitted to walk and cycle on roads which are restricted to residents. Following the restrictions lifting on Tuesday 17 December, vehicle restrictions will remain on Kenepuru Road from Linkwater to the Heads: Vehicle RestrictionsVehicles up to 12.6m in length, and 6 tonne in weight can travel on Kenepuru Road and the following side roads; Mahau Road, Torea Road and Moetapu Bay Road as far as Double Bay Reserve. This allows residents access to boat launching areas at Double Bay Reserve, Torea and Portage. On all other side roads, between Kenepuru Road to the Heads no vehicles over 8m in length or 3.5 tonne in weight are permitted. French Pass |
||
Construction continues this week on Croisilles-French Pass Road, 5km from Okiwi Bay. The crew are working on the culvert inlet and wing wall now that the retaining wall is complete and sight rails are installed. Kerb and channel works will be completed prior to sealing which is planned for early December. The traffic lights at this site will be removed once the remedial works have been completed. Progress continues on Ronga Road, 10km from the start of the road where a box culvert under the road has been completed. The crew are currently constructing a MSE (mechanically stablished earth) wall. Stop/go traffic management is in place at this site. Please expect delays of up to 20 minutes at this site. |

Kenepuru Road |
||
Daytime closures remain on Kenepuru Road, from Onahau Road, Monday to Thursday from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5pm. On Fridays the closure will be in place from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 3.30pm. These closures are for the construction of a retaining wall, drainage improvements and road reinstatement, 20km from the start of the road at the Water Tank slip site. At the water tank slip site this week a culvert was installed during two full day road closures. The retaining wall is nearing completion as the installation of timber lagging, in coordination with waler (horizontal support beams) continues. Next week crews will be installing new road signage from Onahau Road to the Heads on Kenepuru Road. This work will be completed under stop/go traffic management. Please plan ahead for minor delays. Pavement preparations at the retaining wall site, near Torea on Kenepuru Road are underway for sealing now that the retaining wall at this site is complete. On Monday 2 December drainage upgrades and road reinstatement will start on Tara Bay Road. The road will be closed, from 7.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays. Moetapu Bay |
||
Daytime construction closures on Moetapu Bay Road, approximately 2km from the start of the road, are in place on weekdays from 9am to 3pm with hourly openings. Bulk excavation works are underway at Elephant Point on Moetapu Bay Road after vegetation was cleared last week in preparation for the new road retreat. Work will be undertaken outside of the closure times, under stop/go traffic management. Please expect delays. |

Queen Charlotte Drive |
||
Work continues on Queen Charlotte Drive, 7km from Picton above Whenuanui (Becks Bay). With excavations and kerb and channel work now complete crews are carrying out road reinstatement preparations ahead of sealing. The installation of a willow brush wall has been completed on Tepuia Heights at the Queen Charlotte Drive end. The team is now working to complete a second wall on the Grove Track. Drainage improvements including multiple culvert installations and road reinstatement works are underway on Tepuia Heights. This week work started on dish channels. From Friday 6 to Thursday 19 December construction closures for culvert installations are required from 10am to 4pm with a lunchtime opening from 12pm to 12.30pm. Work started this week on rock revetment at Dalton's Bridge. River protection works are underway to reform the riverbank batter. These works are expected to take four weeks to complete. Please expect increased truck movements in the area. |

Waihopai Valley |
||
The construction of the new bridge on Waihopai Valley Road is now complete. Minor finishing works including guard rail bases and reinstatement works on the banks are also nearing completion. Work continues on the road approaches and with the bulk earth works complete, pavement preparation is underway. This work will be carried out under stop/go traffic management over the coming weeks. Please plan ahead for minor delays. The current bailey bridge will continue to operate while finishing works are completed. |
