Western commits new funding for globally displaced students, scholars

As the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine continues, Western has announced new direct financial support for students and scholars facing disruption and displacement due to conflict or war in their home countries.

In a special graduation ceremony today, Indigenous students will receive stoles with embroidery specific to Western and to Indigenous Services, with its representation of a strong tree atop a turtle underlined by a purple wampum belt.

Youth are one of the most sedentary groups in society, yet little study has been done on physical activity in adolescent classrooms according to new research co-led by education professor Barbara Fenesi.

Supporting disclosures of gender-based and sexual violence  
Employees who have not yet completed the new required gender-based and sexual violence training module are reminded to do so no later than April 30, 2022. Learn how you can support a survivor of gender-based and sexual violence should you receive a disclosure from a student or colleague.

Student questionnaires on courses and teaching
One of the most effective ways to support a high response rate for SQCTs is instructor encouragement. Western has created a list of strategies from which instructors might draw to encourage students to complete the SQCTs.
