Ready to Share a Powerful Gospel

This past week at the Boardwalk Chapel we saw guests and staff assemble, digging into the Word, studying evangelism in the theoretical and the practical. Some who came are experienced evangelists, and others are novices. All Christians, no matter how gifted in evangelism, are waging war against the world, the flesh, and the devil in order to preach the Gospel to themselves and maintain an openness and readiness to share with others.

”Even if I’m preaching the Gospel clearly as I ought, people will reject me, but they’re rejecting Christ,” said Addie, who was encouraged by this reminder in the School of Evangelism. “People will reject the Gospel, and it’s not in my power to open their eyes. It’s really refreshing and encouraging because it takes the burden off of me and allows me to rejoice and trust in God to give the increase as he sees fit.”

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

In this case, we might say a video is worth several thousand words. The Committee on Diaconal Ministries presented this video at the 89th OPC General Assembly held earlier this month to help tell the story of Neon since the flood destroyed Neon Reformed OPC July 28, 2022.

You've been with us through this disaster in prayer, in volunteering, and in donating. This effort wouldn’t have been possible without you, the OPC Disaster Response family! Please watch and share it with your congregation.

Destruction in Turkey resulting from earthquakes

Amidst Turmoil, God Revives the Lost

Across the southern portion of Turkey, where multiple devastating earthquakes struck earlier this year, people continue to hurt physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Many first response and recovery efforts have run their course, but crises still remain. In all of this, God is working, stirring hearts and using the hands and feet of His people.

This month, the Refugee Ministry Subcommittee of the CDM determined to send $50,000 from the Turkey Earthquake Fund to OPC sister church, the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARP), as they cooperate with partners in the affected areas of Turkey. With significant ministries of mercy already in place and an eye towards the ministry of mercy to the displaced and refugees, it is hoped these funds will be a direct blessing to the people of Southern Turkey.

Three New Episodes!

A Chat with Chris Verdick, OPC Uganda Mission Clinic Administrator
In this episode, David Nakhla visits Chris Verdick, the administrator of the OPC Uganda Mission's Akisyon A Yesu Presbyterian Clinic in Karamoja, Uganda. Chris and his family have been serving in rural Uganda for over a decade. Listen as Chris describes how the mission serves this impoverished region by attending to their health needs while pursuing the ultimate goal of leading lost souls to Christ. The OPC Committee on Diaconal Ministries in conjunction with OPC Foreign Missions provides significant funding to aid with the operational costs of the Clinic as well as to missionary deacons who help with maintaining the Clinic building as part of the OPC Uganda Mission.

A Study of Acts 6 with Regional Home Missionary Charles Biggs
In this episode, Rev. Chris Cashen, pastor of Trinity Reformed OPC in Lanham, Maryland and member of the OPC Committee on Diaconal Ministries is joined by Rev. Charles R. Biggs, Regional Home Missionary for the Orthodox Presbyterian Church’s Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic (PMA). Chris and Charles unpack a unique passage of Scripture, one that deacons are especially familiar with: Act 6 verses 1 to 8.

Encouragement for Church-Wide Ministry Projects
In this episode, host David Nakhla talks with Trinity OPC (Hatboro, Pa.) deacon Dave Askey about his church's involvement in the recent denomination-wide ministry project, Crates for Ukraine. Dave shares details about how his church worked together in creative ways to bring the CFU project to completion and how the Lord blessed their ministry in very large ways.
