Night works - final asphalt layer

The final 50mm of asphalt will be applied to the SH1 Loop Road intersection area over a series of night works planned for late November and early December.

This layer is the “icing” we have previously referred to and provides a smooth ride to complete the various asphalt layers.

As well as asphalting the roundabout, a final layer of pavement will be laid on each approaching road – extending the asphalt up to 150 metres from the roundabout.

Night work is currently scheduled for the following dates:

  • Thursday 25 November
  • Sunday 28 November to Thursday 2 December inclusive
  • Sunday 5 to Thursday 9 December inclusive
  • Sunday 12 to Thursday 16 December inclusive (tentative).

These dates are all weather dependent and may change at short notice.

Works will begin from 7pm each night and be completed by 6am, with a 30km temporary speed limit and manual traffic control in place.
