Celebrating Black History Month

This month our community is celebrating Black History Month. This is an opportunity to learn about and celebrate the cultural diversity and achievements of Black Canadians from the past, present and future.

 

Visit the Black History Month webpage throughout the month to celebrate and highlight Black leadership, achievements and experiences.

Co-op Event Series

Are you a co-op student looking to build your network and make key connections? Check out the Co-op Event Series! This is a series of sessions designed to help co-op students gain valuable insights and make connections in their field of interest. For the winter term, check out Industry Insights: Science 2 Business on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Industry Insights: Navigating the Government Recruitment Process, on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Innovation Hub Open House

The Innovation Hub, located on the main floor of the Nicol building, is hosting an open house event on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students from all programs interested in entrepreneurship are encouraged to attend!

 

Industry Talk with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission

In this Industry Talk on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., women students will learn about the skills and tools engineering and information technology graduates should know when entering the workforce. Students will also hear about the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission's (CNSC) tangible commitments to supporting women in STEM.

Learning and Writing Support Workshops and Events

Join the Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS) for one or more learning and writing support workshops and events this week! Sessions include: How to Start Your Academic Paper workshop, Noting What to Note workshop, Verbs and Complements - Academic Writing for English Language Learners (ELLs) and Reading for Academic Purposes workshop. Students can also book one-on-one Writing Consultation services, or drop-in on Thursdays between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

 

Planning to Complete Course Work at Another University?

Are you interested in studying at another university during the summer term?

Carleton degree students may be eligible to gain credit for courses taken at another recognized university through a Letter of Permission (LOP). Details on eligibility and the online application form can be found on the Letter of Permission page.

Exciting New Opportunities at Carleton Athletics

New activities have been added to campus rec! Enjoy some friendly competition with a game of spikeball Monday to Thursday in the Fieldhouse, or bring your moves to dance in the Combatives Room on Fridays. Visit the Athletics website for more info and to register.

Emergency Notification System Test on Tuesday, February 21

A test of Carleton’s upgraded Emergency Notification System (ENS) will be conducted on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at approximately 1:15 p.m. This test will include three types of notifications: campus computer screen messages, emails sent out to all Carleton University addresses, and a push notification through the new Carleton Mobile app.

This is a test of the ENS system and no action is required.
