Vaccination Booster Program for all Calvary Employees

12 November 2021

Dear Colleagues,

In delivering our mission to provide care to those in need, we at Calvary must do all we can to protect and keep safe our patients, residents and clients who may be placed at significant risk if they are exposed to, and contract the COVID-19 virus.

On 27 October 2021 the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) advised that a booster dose may be warranted to mitigate against waning immunity against the COVID-19 virus and the emergence of variants. Calvary Employees who received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least six months ago, are now strongly encouraged to receive a booster dose.

What do employees need to know?

  • Eligible Calvary employees will be offered a COVID-19 booster dose through Commonwealth In-Reach Clinics. The booster dose will be the Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine.
  • Employees who have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine are fully vaccinated, giving good protection against serious illness, hospitalisation or death from COVID-19.
  • It is voluntary for you to decide to receive the booster, however it is strongly recommended. On 27 October 2021 the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) advised that a booster dose may be warranted to mitigate against waning immunity against the COVID-19 virus and the emergence of variants.

  • We will advise you of when a COVID-19 vaccine booster clinic is scheduled in your area. If it is less than six months since you have received a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, we will ensure you have access to a booster dose when you become eligible.
  • In line with our updated Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy employees who choose to receive the booster vaccine outside of their rostered hours will not be paid for their time.
  • Employees must continue to send proof of vaccinations, including booster doses,  to COVIDVaccinations@calvarycare.org.au. In addition, employees may enter their booster information via MyKiosk.
  • New Calvary employees (formerly employed by Japara) will maintain their existing monitoring and reporting process for vaccinations, whereby Home Managers sight relevant evidence from employees and record in Kronos.

  • More information regarding booster vaccinations can be found on the Department of Health’s website here.

If you have any questions please speak with your Manager or your local Human Resources representative. You may also email covidvaccinations@calvarycare.org.au with any queries.

Thank-you for your assistance.

Regards,

Martin Bowles, National CEO
