Volunteers Needed To Serve as Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) Evaluators for University of Utah School of Medicine
The MMI is designed to assess communication skills, specifically verbal and nonverbal skills that cannot be measured by standardized exams or transcripts. Duties: - Evaluate 4-8 applicants on 2-4 Interview Days occurring on Mondays and Fridays through mid-January 2022 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am MST.
-Use provided rubric when ranking Applicants post MMI interview.
- Upload applicant scores in the secure Evaluator Portal for each interviewed applicant. Contact Dr. Michael Chen if interested.
Child Care Licensing Committee Recruitment
The Utah Department of Health is seeking physician representation on two state Child Care Licensing Committees: the Residential Child Care Licensing Advisory Committee and the Child Care Center Licensing Committee. These committees ensure physician input into Child Care Licensing rules and issues necessary to protect qualifying children’s common needs for a safe and healthy environment. The committees meet every other month in a morning session. UDOH is looking for 1-2 additional physicians to join them. Sessions are currently virtual, and they anticipate that will remain an option going forward post-pandemic. Learn more...
The AP Interview: CDC chief says omicron mostly mild so far
AP- More than 40 people in the U.S. have been found to be infected with the omicron variant so far, and more than three-quarters of them had been vaccinated, the chief of the CDC said Wednesday. But she said nearly all of them were only mildly ill. In an interview with The Associated Press, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said the data is very limited and the agency is working on a more detailed analysis of what the new mutant form of the coronavirus might hold for the U.S. Read more...
National Influenza Vaccination Week: Remind Patients about Importance of Flu Shots
AAFP - Flu season is here, and recent evidence shows that cases have already started to increase in some states. So, it's even more important that people get a flu shot now. The CDC is designating Dec. 5-11 as National Influenza Vaccination Week to remind patients to protect themselves and their families from severe illness. There are downloadable resources, sample messages for patients, and additional information in the CDC's Digital Toolkit. AAFP also has dedicated vaccines and influenza flu web pages with additional information and resources.
