Instant insights!Did you know that Redland City’s Manufacturing contributes 7.2% to the city’s total value add, down from 9.7% two decades ago. Despite this decline, the sector remains a cornerstone of the local economy, supporting around 3,000 jobs and driving employment across related industries such as transport, construction, and retail. It also leads the city in total exports and plays a vital role in regional supply chains. Key sub-sectors — including food and beverage, machinery and equipment, and transport equipment manufacturing —continue to sustain and grow the industry, while emerging areas such as marine,
manufacturing, battery production, green metals, and critical minerals are driving innovation and diversification within the local manufacturing landscape. If you want to learn more about the local economy, contact us or visit the Economy ID page for Redland City.
Local law change to support enforcement of shopping centre’s regulated parkingRedland City Council will amend one of its local laws to allow regulated parking at two commercial carparks in Cleveland Central, commonly known in the community as the Coles and Woolworths carparks. Under the change, six new regulated off-street parking areas will be added to Schedule 2 of Subordinate Local Law No. 5 (Parking) 2015—five at 67–107 Middle Street (Woolworths) and one at 100 Middle Street (Coles). The amendment process, endorsed at General Meeting of Council, follows a formal request from the owner of Cleveland Central to enter into an agreement with Council for regulated parking enforcement in their carparks. By making this change, Council will be able to undertake parking enforcement in the designated areas, improving consistency in management and ensuring fair access to parking spaces for shoppers and visitors. Council officers will now progress the statutory process to amend the local law, ensuring community awareness and compliance, while supporting the needs of both local businesses and residents who rely on these busy carparks. |
