Blessing of the Backpacks

Come Together Sunday

Come Together Sunday - September 11th

Please join us on Sunday, September 11th, after the service for our church picnic! Hopefully, the weather will cooperate. If not, we will move inside everything that we are able.

We will have a bounce house, egg toss, snow-cone machine, popcorn, and a cookout.

Please bring a dish to pass and an item for our bake sale, which will offset the cost of renting the bounce house.

Blessing of the Backpacks

The annual Blessing of the Backpacks will take place this Sunday, September 11th during worship. All students and educators are invited to bring their backpacks for a special blessing for the new school year.

Prairie Path Clean-Up

Weather permitting, the third clean-up is scheduled for Sunday, September 11th at 2pm. Meet at the corner of West and Liberty in downtown Wheaton. Contact Dawn Schubert with any questions.

DuPage PADS “Walk 4 Home”

Join DuPage pads Saturday, September 17th to help raise awareness and support for ending homelessness in our community. Show your support by participating in a 2-mile walk at College of DuPage that will benefit DuPage PADS mission to end homelessness. Gift Cards Needed for Back Bay Mission

As St. Matthew's work trip to Biloxi draws near, we are collecting Walmart gift cards to donate to Back Bay Mission. These gift cards will be used to purchase food for the food pantry, supplies for the Micah Day Center, or to support other client needs. St. Matthew will also benefit when the gift cards are purchased through the RaiseRight (formerly ShopwithScrip) gift card program.

Edie DeBoard will be taking Walmart gift card orders every Sunday through October 2. Make checks payable to St. Matthew UCC and note “Back Bay Mission.” If you purchase cards yourself, please get them in $25 denominations. Cards or checks can be put in the offering plate on Sunday or dropped in the office mailbox. Contact Jeannine Adams with questions.

Feed My Starving Children Trip October 10th

We are planning a Feed My Starving Children Event from 4:30-6:15pm on Indigenous People's Day/Columbus Day, Monday October 10th. This is a great opportunity for children and families to volunteer together. It is a very rewarding experience, and we hope many are able to participate as this a holiday for most school-aged children.

Contact Erin Walsh at 630.660.4651 or edbreit@hotmail.com if you would like to volunteer, or sign up in the narthex.

No Women's Ministry Meeting in September

Due to busy back-to-school schedules and other conflicts, Women’s Group will not meet in September.

Tracey Blake will host the October meeting at her home on Thursday, October 6th at 7pm.

Prepare to be WOW'd!

We've heard that people aren't sure how they can sign up to be a part of the Sunday worship service.

We've created a Worship Opportunities Worksheet (WOW) that contains all the volunteer opportunities through the end of 2022. You can sign up to read announcements, scripture, be a greeter, an usher, or an acolyte. All you need to do is click here and add your name to the appropriate date and opportunity. It's that simple!

At the top of each column, you will see the name of a contact who can answer any questions about the specific opportunity. You can also contact the office. We'd love to have you be a part of an upcoming service!

Do You Sew?

Would you be willing to make some valances for our newly painted nursery? If so, please contact Kenna Anderson at Kenna1@comcast.net or 630.209.5710. Thank you!
