June 21, 2024 PFS 2024 Highlights From Week 1Dear Partnership for Success Students, Families, and Friends, On Monday, June 17th we launched our 34th summer! PFS 2024 is in full-speed as we head into week 2! Across each site, PFS Scholars have been exploring new concepts in literature, history, math, science, robotics, art, and technology. They are embarking on new adventures in the community and meeting professionals from a wide range of fields. Our site directors, teachers, and program interns are excited about all the incredible plans we have for the summer and they are committed to providing an engaging, transformative, and exhilarating experience for our Scholars. Thank you to the PFS team for their dedication, passion, and care! They are an integral part of this special program. At PFS, our mission is to help students develop their full academic and personal potential in a setting that fosters collaboration and confidence, while preparing them for college and careers. We are excited about our expanded partnership with Pasadena City College (PCC), that allows students to take college credit courses in grades 8 through 13. We have also partnered with Pasadena’s Young and Healthy to pilot PFS Community Circles at Poly. The program focuses on brain health, mindfulness, social emotional learning, and team building. To help students further build their confidence and career self-efficacy, each week students at Poly will hear from distinguished guest speakers that represent a wide range of fields including STEM, finance, media and film, and law. Scholars at Mayfield Junior will experience Fridays focused on community trips that explore environmental sustainability and STEM. We are thrilled to offer so many enriching opportunities to our Scholars! I encourage you to read more details about our first week’s events at each PFS site and to follow us on social media to get a glimpse of what’s been happening across our campuses. Thank you, PFS families, for your support and for ensuring that your child joins us each day. We look forward to a fabulous second week! Warmly,
