Parents newsletter - July 2025July is here—and the fall term is just around the corner! Whether your Raven is continuing summer studies, working a summer job or exploring new experiences, now is the time to start preparing for the upcoming academic year. Carleton’s academic advisors and Student Registration Assistance team are ready to help your Raven choose courses, build a balanced timetable and stay on track for their academic goals.Important Dates and Deadlines Wednesday, July 2 to Friday, July 4, 2025: Registration opens for new first year undergraduate students and students admitted from CEGEP. Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11, 2025: Registration opens for returning undergraduate students. Tuesday, July 8, 2025: Last day for registration and course changes (including auditing) for late summer courses. Tuesday, July 15, 2025: Last day for a full fee adjustment when withdrawing from late summer courses (financial withdrawal). Monday, August 4, 2025: Civic holiday. University closed. Fall/Winter 2025-2026 Registration Registration for fall/winter 2025-2026 opens based on pre-assigned timetickets on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 for new first year students and Tuesday, July 8, 2025 for returning students. Timetickets are available in Carleton Central. Your student can view the class schedule and registration course planning tool in Carleton Central (access by logging in through Carleton360). Student Registration Assistance Team Does your student need help registering for courses? The Student Registration Assistance (SRA) team is available to help students build a conflict-free timetable, navigate Carleton Central and provide general registration assistance. Your Raven can visit the SRA team at the Registrar’s Office on the third floor of Tory Building or contact the team via phone at 613-520-3500 or email registrar@carleton.ca.
Fall Orientation Registration for Fall Orientation is now open! Fall Orientation provides incoming first-year students with a week of fun activities, a chance to meet fellow students and an opportunity to gain the skills necessary to transition to university life at Carleton. Returning undergraduate students can meet new people and access a great lineup of events with the upper year event package. Virtual International Internship Applications Now Open for Fall 2025 Applications are open for fall 2025 virtual international internships. These internships offer your student a chance to gain degree-related work experience, develop international connections and earn academic credit, all while being remote.
How to Be a University Student: Practical Tools for a Successful Transition The first year of university can be a big adjustment. Many students arrive unsure of what’s expected or how to manage their time, academic workload and new independence. To help ease that transition, Carleton offers Academic Prep: How to Be a University Student, a one-week, non-credit summer course running Monday, August 18 to Friday, August 22, 2025. This course is designed to build the habits, skills and confidence students need to thrive.
AI Red Flags for Employers Students are increasingly leveraging AI for their job search. Career Services outlines seven mistakes that employers flag as ones that can cost applicants the job. Revised Sexual Violence Policy Following a broad and inclusive consultation process with the Carleton community, the Board of Governors has approved the revised Carleton University Sexual Violence Policy. The updated policy is now available on the Secretariat website. This revised policy represents one of many ongoing initiatives to prevent and address sexual violence on our campus. We received thoughtful input regarding training, resources, communication and support. This feedback has been shared with Equity and Inclusive Communities and the Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Committee to inform updates to the university’s broader sexual violence prevention strategy.
