SA-NT District Staff Retreat

On Tuesday, 25 March, the District Staff embarked on a retreat day to the beautiful Barossa Valley. We shared a time of learning and reflecting on our rich history as the Lutheran Church in Australia. We are grateful to Langmeil & Bethany Lutheran Church for hosting us in their beautiful spaces. The retreat was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, deepen connections, and strengthen our collaboration as we serve the district.

Did you know that the LCA has a whole page devoted to worship resources? From song suggestions, service orders, drama, visual art, prayers & liturgy, you can find many creative ways to connect with your regular worshippers and visitors.

We'd love to hear about the creative ways you are celebrating Easter this year in your church community —reply to this eNews to share your story!

As advised previously the SA Government is making automated external defibrillator machines mandatory in all public spaces, including worship spaces from 1January 2026. A question has been asked about the halls and other buildings associated with our churches. We have been advised that because the halls are not used primarily as commercial spaces they do not require a separate defibrillator.

Please watch this space for further information as it becomes available. Contact the District Office if you have questions.

LCA Insurance has embarked again on a three-year program to value all Lutheran churches in the LCA to ensure that they are adequately covered for current replacement value. We understand that many congregations could not afford to undertake a valuation of their property so it has been decided that LCA Insurance will meet the full cost of the valuation.

With the support of the LCA, Aon Valuation Services have been appointed to undertake the valuation program. Aon Valuation Services have begun contacting the designated contact person in each congregation to arrange a suitable time. I have not been advised when these inspections will take place but do know that some people have already been contacted about this. Please contact LCA Insurance if you have questions about this.

EVENTS

In 2025, it will be 80 years since Dietrich Bonhoeffer was sent to the gallows. His writings still present many insights into how Christians can live out Jesus’ call to follow him as disciples, both privately and publicly. You are invited to attend a conference reflecting on Bonhoeffer’s legacy and his faith challenges for all of us today.

The conference is sponsored by the Bonhoeffer Reading Group of Adelaide, which meets monthly in North Adelaide. To join the Reading Group or attend the conference, contact Pastor Mike Pietsch for further details (0416 738 631 or mikepietsch25@gmail.com)
