A new Food Waste Service is coming
Council is rolling out a new Food Waste Service in March next year to keep food waste out of landfill and turn it into a nutrient rich soil conditioner and green energy.
Starting with stand-alone houses in March 2026, the new maroon lid food waste bin will be collected weekly. All other bin services will remain the same. For more information see our Food Waste page on our website.
Got Questions? Join one of our Food Waste Workshops!
Curious about how the new food waste service will work or why food waste is even such a big deal? Join one of our free Food Waste workshops and learn all about the new service, including key dates for your diary, and simple, practical ways to manage food waste at home.
There will be an open Q&A session to answer all of your questions, and support to those who want to become Food Waste Champions in their community. Catering will be provided, as will prizes for the best food puns!
Next sessions are on Tuesday 25 November at Lane Cove Civic Centre.
Morning session is 10:00am - 12:00pm and evening session 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
