Uniting voices for preventive health

In a landmark move for public health, Healthway has joined forces with Australia’s three other state-based preventive health agencies to launch the Prevention Agency Chief Executive Forum. A collaborative initiative aimed at tackling chronic disease and improving population health nationwide.

Through the newly established forum, the agencies will work together on shared priorities, joint advocacy, research and projects — making the most of our resources and laying the foundation for real, lasting change nationally.

Ngurra Kujungka has just delivered its biggest Martu Festival to date, bringing together over 750 community members from across the Western Desert. Martu people gathered for six vibrant days of sport, music and cultural celebration.

“We need to educate our people, our young ones as well, to live a healthy life: to stop smoking and eat a lot of fruit, veggies, and drink water, and do lots of training." Bruce Booth,  Chairperson Ngurra Kunjungka 

This powerful initiative is part of a long-standing partnership between Ngurra Kujungka and Healthway, working together to build strong, healthy communities through culturally connected programs.

Creative projects empower WA communities

Healthway, in collaboration with the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, has announced more than $1 million in new funding to support creative programs across WA. 

One standout project is the Noongar Nursery Rhymes project, a collaboration between Community Arts Network and Playgroup WA. 

This project brings together First Nations community members to create joyful Noongar songs - empowering Aboriginal children, parents and families to connect with and celebrate Noongar language.

Packed with goodness

Crunch&Sip® is offering FREE nutrition education sessions for parents of primary school-aged children during Terms 3 and 4.

Led by qualified nutritionists, these interactive sessions cover practical topics such as:

  • Tips for packing healthy lunchboxes.
  • Healthy alternatives to pre-packaged snacks.
  • How to read food labels. 
  • Strategies for tackling fussy eaters. 

Sessions can be hosted at WA primary schools, libraries or community venues, making it easier for families to get involved and learn simple ways to support healthy habits at home.

This September, AUSactive invites you to take part in a fun, free, and inclusive three-week physical activity challenge

Together, let’s move toward better health - 75 moves a day for 21 days. Why? Because 75% of Aussies aren’t meeting physical activity guidelines, and it only takes 21 days to build a habit.

KIDDO Healthway ECEC scholarships

Early Childhood Education and Care services across Western Australia can now apply for a scholarship valued at over $2,000!

The scholarship, supported by Healthway, includes a 12-month KIDDO membership, a starter pack of physical activity equipment, access to staff training workshops and full access to KIDDO’s online resources and tools.

KIDDO is especially seeking applications from services in under-resourced areas, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and remote regions of WA.
