November 2021

Happy (belated) Halloween to all ANDE members across the region. October has been a lively month for ANDE East and Southeast Asia and our member organizations.

We are delighted to see our member organizations in various virtual gatherings and we are equally excited to approach the very end of 2021, where we aim to bring our network closer together following our objective to engage and support the small and growing business (SGB) ecosystems.

We kicked off October with The Next Frontier of Innovative Finance: Impact-Linked Finance webinar. Together with ANDE India, we were thrilled to have Usha Devi Venkatachalam, the founder, and CEO of Krishi Janani (India), Muhammad Fauzal Rizki, the co-founder and CEO of Sampangan (Indonesia), Bjoern Struewer, and Patrizia Baffioni from Roots of Impact as the panelists who gave us the idea and concept of the financing needs of small and growing businesses vis-a-vis the limits of impact investing and Impact-Linked Finance.

We had our fifth session of ANDE ESEA Digitalization Learning Lab, ‘How to Choose the Right Tools’, with support from the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth. Thanks to Alison Eskesen for an inspiring opening remark, May Thin Zar Aung for insights on how ONOW selected and made decisions on implementing tools, and Fabi Hubschmid on how Markaaz guided entrepreneurs to choose the right tools. We were honored to have Matthew Wallace from ONOW and Stuart Clarke from SAP in our panel discussion who shared on-ground examples and how organizations can adopt and implement technology in their businesses. Watch the webinar here.

Lastly, we utilized Gather to promote cozy and open discussion around the innovative acceleration program, from its design to implementation and measurement through the collaborative lens with financial sustainability in mind. Accelerators shared openly the challenges, opportunities, and tips from first-hand experience. Thanks to Klaus Oberbauer - Program Manager from SecondMuse, Kasia Weina - Director & Co-founder of Evergreen Labs, Adam Richard - Director of Impact from Social Value International for facilitating smooth conversation that led to constructive and fruitful outcomes.

Two more months until 2022, we are planning three more special events for ANDE members, partners, and the SGB ecosystems to get involved. Discover more exciting opportunities in the following sections!
