Three renowned faculty members have been named Distinguished University Professors in recognition of their leadership, research excellence and community service.

Karen Bertrand has been appointed vice-president (university advancement) effective Aug. 1. She'll lead the team dedicated to engaging alumni and donors, raising funds to support students and priority areas of excellence.

Robert Garland initiated Western’s Student Emergency Response Team (SERT) as a first-year student in 1987. Today SERT continues to operate as a student-run volunteer organization, providing frontline care to the campus community.

Postdoctoral associate Idowu Olawoye is using advanced DNA sequencing and AI to combat antimicrobial resistance, developing faster diagnostic methods and effective treatments for marginalized populations.

Join composer Ian Cusson to learn how being part of different communities and cultures boosts his creativity. He'll use examples from his compositions to demonstrate how community influences art, especially through Indigenized perspectives.

Vancouver Recital Society visiting artist series
Enjoy concerts by the world’s most celebrated performing artists through a new and unique partnership with the Vancouver Recital Society. Canadian-Macedonian mezzo-soprano Ema Nikolovska and pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin will perform in von Kuster Hall, followed by a Q&A.
