Florentine Strzelczyk has been re-appointed to a second five-year term as Provost and Vice-President (Academic), effective July 1, 2027. In her role, Strzelczyk leads a complex portfolio critical to advancing Western’s strategic goals.

Advancing vehicle cybersecurity

Researchers are investigating cybersecurity risks in semi-autonomous vehicles, where a human driver remains in control while some driving tasks are automated. Backed by the National Cybersecurity Consortium, the engineering team is moving beyond code and hardware to include the driver as part of the security system.

The Board of Governors has approved a stand-alone Responsible Investing Policy, strengthening how the university governs its investments and setting out a more robust approach that has evolved over decades.

Explore AI resources at Western
Western Technology Services has launched the Artificial Intelligence Resource Centre (AIRC) to support responsible AI use across teaching, research and administrative work. Access tools, training, consultations and campus expertise through the AIRC website.

Weather siren testing
Live testing of Western’s emergency weather siren will take place May 6 at noon. Unless otherwise notified, this is only a test. No action is required. Testing occurs the first Wednesday of every month.
