BB New Zealand Communication Kia ora Term 4 is here and we are on the run up to Christmas!! Wow, what a year so far. Following a bumper Spring edition of the Bugle, I have so much to convey. October is our celebration month with the 4th being Founders Day and we are 139 years young! Next year we have exciting plans to celebrate 140 years and there are some events highlighted in this edition so we can be prepared early. Time has a incredible knack of catching us by surprise, so please read on and start thinking about these events now. If we can have early indications of numbers interested the easier it is to plan effectively and make these great events. It will also allow us to plan additional events if we know there is full participation. We have a number of major events and expeditions planned with the following highlighted. Canterbury 140th Camp March 2023 Stewart Island Expedition April 2023 Whanganui River Trek September 2023 BB National Founders Camp October 2023 What we really need which I am sure will be no surprise to many of our leaders, is more helpers and leaders in 2023. We have been working with the Echo Section Men to help support out mature leaders and we also need to reach out to parents and ask if they would like to be involved. AI heard a great story about engaging parents and it was to simply get them involved, invite them to a camp, involve them in an activity. Give them a purpose! I was told of a parent attending his son's martial arts night and the instructor simply asked him to hold a bag, and soon he was hooked and became a leader. I want to encourage you to ask parents to get involved. If we want to fulfil the objective below we simply cannot do it on our own, we need to ask for help and do it with expectation. The objective is our important mission/adventure/battle and men need a an adventure to live and a battle to fight. We just need help them understand how important our objective is to their boys and the wider community. Great boys with a firm faith and foundation will build a great future for them and our community. "The advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys' and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true, Christian manliness." Mike Brewer - National Director 0274 967 537Stay Sure & Stedfast - Hebrews 6:19 WE NEED YOU! The BBNZ National Leadership Development Course (NLDC) is looking for our next course director. Might that be you, or someone you know? Do you want to see young men grow into Christian leaders who can make a difference in their sphere of influence, throughout their lives? Would you like to be part of a pivotal week in the lives of a group of 16-20 year old young men, as they develop their faith, their leadership and personal skills? Would you like to work alongside a dedicated team of leaders, delivering an 8-day outdoor Christian leadership development course, in the spectacular Nelson Lakes National Park? Would you like to connect with BB/ICONZ leaders and senior boys from around New Zealand? Would you like to use your skills in building relationships and in setting strategic direction, to help us continue to develop the course for the next generation? If you've answered YES (or you know of someone who would, even if they aren't currently active as a BB/ICONZ leader), we'd love to hear from you! The vision for NLDC is to grow Christian leaders that can make a difference in their sphere of influence throughout their lives, and we do that through challenging, motivating, encouraging and equipping young men. The course runs each year in the first week of the July school holidays, in St Arnaud. In addition to attending the course, the director will join with the rest of the NLDC management team one evening a month(ish) for online meetings, throughout the year. If you'd like to know more, please contact us at nldc@bb.org.nz, or 027 612 7052, by the end of October.
