CoYouth wins national award

Congratulations Act-Belong-Commit CoYouth Ensemble for winning the Australian dance award for Outstanding Achievement in Youth Dance for Project NEXT 2017. The Contemporary Dance Company of Western Australia Ltd (Co:3) aims to develop technical and performative skills for young dancers, and the support of Healthway has enabled the program to grow and reach into the wider community. Find out more.

Terrie's tobacco free tips

The Cancer Council WA's Make Smoking History ad campaign Terrie's Tips, is currently on radio and television state-wide. The campaign is co-funded by Healthway, and features former smoker Terrie using an artificial voice box to offer advice to people that are yet to quit smoking. Terrie's last ad was filmed just days before she died. She was only fifty three years old. Find out more.

Soccer program changes lives

Healthway provides support to the Geraldton Sporting Aboriginal Corporation to run their Soccer for Change program. The program will run during the Christmas school holidays, and engages local Aboriginal youth in a culturally inclusive, safe and positive environment where they can develop skills of the game and skills for life. The program promotes the health message Respect Yourself, Respect Culture. Find out more.

YMCA youth dance program

Supported by Healthway, YMCA HQ in Leederville is launching a new dance program for young people in term one of 2019. The program will promote the Drug Aware health message and encourages local youth aged between 14-18 years to get involved in a non-competitive dance environment. Find out more

Free quit smoking services

Healthway is supporting the Cancer Council WA to expand the reach of their Make Smoking History program to health and community services across the state. The free program will help services identify tailored solutions to integrate addressing smoking into their everyday care, and provide information and support to help clients reduce and quit smoking. Find out more.

At the end of August, we said farewell to Dr Jo Clarkson, Director of Health Promotion at Healthway for the past sixteen years. On behalf of the team we thank Jo for her leadership, commitment to the Healthway mission, and advancing the health of so many Western Australians. Good luck in the next chapter of your life Jo!
