Updates

Social Enterprise in Scotland Census 2021 is now underway. This is the fourth official study by the Scottish Government into enterprising charities and social enterprises across the country. Every two years it combines publicly available information from regulators with survey and financial data, to help understand the characteristics and needs of the sector and inform future support. To contribute see here

We are holding a couple of sessions with members to inform our response to the Fair Work Consultation – what does a Fair Work Nation look like to you; what can the social enterprise sector do to help Scotland become a Fair Work Nation; and what support do you need to place Fair Work at the heart of what you do?  We are really keen to hear your thoughts on this, so hope you can join us at one of the following sessions: Thursday 11th Nov (1-2pm) and Tues 16th Nov (11-12). Email Jayne to book a place, or to arrange a chat.

For other upcoming SEN sessions see here

The award-winning, industry-led Discover! Creative Careers programme is piloting a first round of activity in Scotland this November. It aims to inspire and inform Scotland’s young people about the job roles and pathways into the creative and cultural industries, with an online Discover! Creative Scotland have launched Radical Care. The pandemic has highlighted the pressure on carers and has seen gendered patterns of working become even more acute. Radical Care is a necessary intervention to support changes in the creative industries sector and Creative Scotland hope that this fund can help the organisations they work with and work for rethink some of the systems around creative practice to make creative work, work better for everyone.

Funding & Opportunities

An opportunity from Equi-Power Central Scotland RDA: This October we took part in a collaboration with Open Aye CIC who provided two tutored, wellbeing based photography sessions for our participants. Ten participants learned about creating a shot, lighting, portraiture, action and still life shots; creating photos around questions like 'what do horses mean to me?'. The session was hugely well received, supporting our participants with autism, depression, anxiety and physical disabilities in a creative experience based around their passion for horses. Each participant left with two printed photos, and access to their own online digital gallery of pictures. Equi-Power are keen to speak with anyone from social enterprises specialising in delivering creative experiences, with a view to our participants benefitting from future collaborations. Please contact development@equi-power.org if you may be able to offer a creative workshop that can be tailored to meet our needs.
