SPOTLIGHT ON SPH
Public Health for Learners Everywhere
Our commitment to innovate in public health education continues to evolve – from launching flexible courses for working professionals, to providing free, foundational public health content during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Below, we highlight some of our programs available locally and globally.
Mini-MPH
Over 13,000 individuals have signed up for our free, asynchronous Mini-MPH, engaging in online content that covers key concepts of public health. Participants are able to earn certified health education credits upon completion of coursework developed by SPH leadership and faculty members Lisa Sullivan, Harold Cox, David Rosenbloom, Sophie Godley, and Sandro Galea.
Mini-MPH for Physicians and Nurses
Following the success of the general Mini-MPH and participant requests for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credits, BUSPH expanded the Mini-MPH to include versions for physicians and nurses. Additional content was provided by SPH faculty members Wayne Lamorte and Monica Onyango. Read more.

Population Health Exchange
PHX offers both free and fee-based learning opportunities in-person and virtually for individuals at all points along their public health career path. Upcoming courses led by SPH faculty include:
- Essentials of Population Health Research
- Lean Management in Healthcare
- Introduction to ArcGIS Pro for Public Health
Customized course options are available for institutions, companies, and health departments. We also offer a summer program for high school students.
Workforce Training Centers
BUSPH is also home to the New England Public Health Training Center, The School Health Institute for Education and Leadership Development (SHIELD), and the Local Public Health Institute of Massachusetts.
100% Online MPH
Accessibly priced, the BUSPH Online MPH degree program offers a flexible, skills-based curriculum focused on health equity. The course is self-paced for working professionals, with weekly live sessions led by our faculty.
