- This is importantPlease read and respond Special Zoom Meeting RequestBOE Candidate Endorsement this Monday, August 2, 2021 at 7pm ET Dear , I'm proud to say that earlier today, we submitted to the Town Clerk, our slate of candidates, which we endorsed last week for the Town Council election. Congratulations to Mary Fay, Mark Zydanowicz and Alberto Cortes who will be representing the Republican party in this election. For those of you who attended the WeHa RTC Candidate Endorsement meeting last week, you will recall that we also endorsed Elizabeth Wilcox as a candidate for the West Hartford Board of Education (BOE). Unfortunately, we recently learned that Liz has decided not to seek re-election and has withdrawn from her candidate endorsement. Fortunately, Liz will finish out her term on the BOE with our party. Since then, your West Hartford Republican Town Committee Executive Team and other key leaders on our Town Committee have been working very hard to find a qualified candidate to run for Board of Education and represent our party. I'm excited to say that our search is complete and a great candidate has come forward. Her name is Dr. Gayle Harris and she recently had attended our West Hartford RTC Candidate Endorsement Meeting last week. So that Dr. Harris can represent us, we need to hold a special meeting of the West Hartford RTC to officially endorse her as our candidate. Therefore, I am requesting that we hold a special meeting of the West Hartford RTC, this Monday, August 2, at 7pm ET. To make this as convenient as possible, I am making this a "Zoom" virtual meeting. It is important that we have a quorum for this meeting, which requires at least 1/3 of our RTC membership to attend the Zoom meeting (i.e., we need a minimum for 9 members to attend). However, I'd like to have as many members attend as possible so, please make every effort to attend this meeting on Monday. I will give the candidate, Dr. Harris, a few minutes to speak and will allow RTC members to ask the candidate questions so they get to know her. Then, we'll move to an endorsement vote. I expect this should be a brief meeting. Please see below for the Zoom meeting instructions and also, please be kind enough to RSVP to Kaye Straw, our RTC Secretary so that we can be assured we have enough members that will attend for the vote. If you have any questions or if you need additional information, please feel free to email me at chair@whgop.org or call our WeHa RTC office at 860-840-7430. Sincerely, Shawn Daly ![]() ZOOM MEETING INSTRUCTIONS Join Zoom Meeting |
