It was great being among other Wellingtonians and sharing the work we are doing in the area. Porirua Launch of new Environmental Cadetship Programme Te Rā Nui, Eastern Porirua Development, one of our large-scale projects, celebrated the launch of their Environmental Cadetship Programme. Over the next three years, the programme will help local residents gain valuable qualifications and on the job training through planting 100,000 native trees. Approved Spatial Plan Welcome to Tē PātēSince opening in November 2023, Tē Pātē Community Space, is consistently active with community led activities, managed by Wesley Community Action's Timebank Initiative. We are proud to share that in April 2024, Tē Pātē received a Placemaking Aotearoa Kūmara Award in the 'It takes a village' category. New homes at Drivers Crescent It was lovely celebrating the completion of our new homes at Driver's Crescent with a blessing, delivered by Dr Taku Parai with speeches shared from Te Pae Whakahou Hapori Board Chair Magele Maria Uluilelata and Deputy Mayor Kylie Wihapi. One of our new customers also attended, walking us through her new home with pride and excitement. Community Survey The Eastern Porirua Community Survey was a huge success with 1200 responses from community members. This feedback will help provide Te Rā Nui with a baseline for how the project is supporting change over time. We hope to be able to update the community with the results later this year. Kāpiti New homes delivered in Ōtaki Two developments have been completed in Ōtaki which will provide 7 new warm, dry homes, for local families. These were the first off-site manufatured homes delivered in the area, so we hosted an open home for the community and key stakeholders to check them out. The feedback from community was very positive and it was great having local media come through too. Launch of the Raumati Community Liaison GroupHuge thanks to Bede Laracy, Raumati Community Board member and Sophie Handford, Councillor for Kāpiti Coast District Council for supporting the establishment of the Raumati Community Liaison Group (RCLG) and the new chairs Alison Molloy and Mike Doyle. This group was formed to support community input into the Raumati Rd project from the onset. For this project, we are currently in the site investigations phase and thankful for the willingness of the community to work alongside side us as we navigate next steps.
Lower Hutt New Homes in Naenae In the early hours of the morning local mana whenua blessed the completed homes at 19 Hewer Crescent, Naenae. This was a great project seeing Weltec/Whitireia students learn new carpentry and construction skills while constructing the front home off-site. We also repurposed the existing home by moving it to the back of the property and are upgrading it through our retrofit programme. We have several more developments in the pipeline, keep an eye out for our 'New homes coming soon' signage. Connecting with communityWe really enjoyed getting to present at the Lower Hutt Rotary Club Meeting to share an update about our Epuni precinct. This community is committed to working alongside us to get good outcomes as the project comes close to completion. We also attended a back-to-school event, alongside support agencies, at Taita Central School. This was a great opportunity to connect with our customers and the wider community and update them on our plans for the area. Upper Hutt Homes that make a differenceWe recently completed a new accessible home on McHardie Street for our customer Shirley and her husband. The couple have lived on McHardie street for 20 years and loved watching the development journey of their new home being constructed. Their old home is now in the process of being retrofitted for another family to move into. Wairarapa New Homes at George Street It's great to be back in the Wairarapa. We celebrated the completion of 12 new homes on George Street in Masterton. Customers have moved in and are enjoying their new community. Community Day for Iorns Street North CustomersWe had a lovely time at the Iorns Street North Community Day, delivered in partnership with Emerge Aotearoa and Masterton District Council (MDC). It provided an opportunity for families, on the newly completed site, to meet each other. We used MDC's play for streets process to create one of the first play streets in the district, enabling kids to ride their bikes and enjoy lots of play activities with their whānau on site. Staying informedWe are committed to keeping our communities updated as we progress with plans for homes in your region.
