A Sustainable Year in Review

The results are in and it's confirmed that Council once again achieved sustainable success last financial year. We delivered a range of projects including:

  • All Council facilities are now powered by 100% renewable energy
  • 880 plants sown on nature strips
  • Six additional electric vehicle chargers installed
  • 1,719 volunteer hours at 25 Bushcare sites
  • 126kg of litter collected through HarbourCare
  • 41 Meet Your Neighbour events for 1,700 residents
  • 584 tonnes of items recycled at the Community Recycling Centre
  • 249 street trees planted
  • 1.7 tonnes of soft plastics recycled with RecycleSmart
  • Urban Forest Strategy adopted 
  • 16 buildings participated in the Apartment Waste Improvement Program

We've teamed up with experts to deliver a free online course, @home, on how to live more sustainably. Learn how to reduce food waste, the power of going solar, the latest on electric vehicles, plus more.

Save money and energy

The Greener Apartments Program is a free Council initiative to assist apartment buildings and strata schemes reduce their common area energy and water use and save money. Receive free independent advice and support.

Planning to build or renovate your home? The Sustainable Building Advisory Service is a free service for residents.

Receive a one-on-one consultation with an architect and learn all about the sustainable initiatives that can be incorporated into your new home or renovation.

Save the date

Rotary Fair and Sustainability Lane is on Sunday 8 October. We're seeking applications from community organisations and businesses interested in having a stall at Sustainability Lane.

It's a great opportunity to showcase your good work to the community.

War on waste

War on Waste is back on our screens and this season covers plastic, food, and fashion waste. Inspired to take action? Try:

Repair Café

Get electrical items, clothes, jewellery, ceramics, shoes, bags, umbrellas, and more repaired for free at our local Repair Café.

They also sharpen knives and gardening tools. All repairs are free and donations are welcomed. 

Open Sunday 6 August and Sunday 13 August from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at 180 Longueville Road.
