Join our July consultations - Help shape the future of B-cycle The Battery Stewardship Council has announced a series of consultations in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane for July 2024. These consultations are a key component of the Scheme Review process, which aims to ensure B-cycle can continue to deliver and increase sustainability outcomes for batteries and battery products. Representatives from industry, government and other organisations are invited to take part in the consultations to help BSC future-proof the B-cycle Scheme. Participants in the consultation will review the proposed new model for B-cycle, as recommended by the BSC Board, and will explore the ‘B-cycle Scheme Review Consultation Paper’, due for release in early July. Since its launch in early 2022, B-cycle has established a robust foundation for enhancing battery stewardship. However, in response to market changes and the evolving risk profile of batteries, it must now adapt to bring a truly circular economy for all batteries to life. Following the consultations in July, BSC will invite written submissions on the proposed model and commence refinement of the new Scheme design. The revised model will be submitted to the ACCC in September as part of the Scheme's reauthorisation process, with B-cycle 2.0 slated for launch in July 2025. Consultations
