Did you know that trees can be connected to each other underground?

It starts underground, with a fungus that attaches to the roots of the tree. The tree produces sugars through photosynthesis, which the fungi can use for energy. In return, the fungal network helps the tree access things like water and nutrients from the soil, including phosphorus and nitrogen.

But what's really fascinating is that these fungal networks don't necessarily stop at one tree. They can connect with the roots of other plants and trees, creating a hidden network beneath the forest floor. (The largest we’ve found covers over 2,000 acres!)

Researchers have found that these connections can also allow plants to communicate with each other with signals that travel underground. For example, if a plant is being attacked by insects, neighbouring plants can receive signals to increase their defenses.

I think there is a really good parallel between that and our lives. In that; on the surface, we may look different and disconnected. But God didn’t design us to be disconnected from each other, or Him.

Jesus says in John 15: “I am the vine; you are the branches. Without Me, you can do nothing."

God has designed us for community. Just like a forest, we're meant to help each other grow. By praying, encouraging and supporting one another.
