For past newsletters visit the Research Office website. Did you know that many Quality Improvement projects require ethical review? If a project involves people and/or data relating to them, no matter whether it's a research project or quality improvement project, you may need ethical review. Each project sits on a spectrum between research-oriented and quality-oriented and many projects involve aspects of both. We have designed protocol templates to suit different kinds of projects, including general research, clinical trials and quality improvement. Our protocol templates include a checklist at the end to help you and Research Office staff determine whether ethical review is required. Library There's a new interface for Mims Anyone with an iMims app may need to update the app and sign in again. The new version is eMIMS elite and looks very different. Contact the library (library@awh.org.au) for training and support with the new version. Do you need help with a literature review? If you need literature on a specific case, or need to conduct a review of the literature for a research protocol, contact the Albury Wodonga Health library for help. Here, Anna talks about how to conduct your own literature review: Research Office Reminders Project reporting We are changing the timing of governance (SSA) annual reports. All reports are now due on ERM on April 30th of each year. Some researchers may notice they are getting a progress report very soon after their most recent one was submitted. This will resolve after the first year. It is important researchers also upload a final report when they have finished their project so we can close it off. Good Clinical Practice A reminder that all Principal Investigators are required to complete the Good Clinical Practice module (30 min). This is a mandated requirement from Department of Health. Application submission due dates Stay up-to-date with submission due dates, key milestones and Human Research Ethics Committee meetings with the Research Office calendar. Research education and PD (all free online) The Research Office website has several educational videos, including the ethical review process for research at AWH. Ethical Review Manager (ERM) training will be held for researchers throughout June. Email parmeet.kaur@safercare.vic.gov.au to register. NHMRC Speaking of Science series.
