Delivering you the latest in health promotion news, funding opportunities, events and more!

We’re sharing the journeys of our local partners who are changing the lives of Western Australians through Healthway-funded initiatives. Follow us on social media to see these inspiring stories unfold!

Inspiring kids through sport

"Before Geraldton Sporting Aboriginal Corporation came to Mount Magnet, there was pretty much nothing for our children. Now our kids love to keep active, kick the footy, play around and love eating their fruit." - Cecilia Kelly, Shire Councillor & employee of GSAC.

Through seasonal programs, GSAC gives young people more than sport. It offers purpose, joy and a sense of belonging.  By backing GSAC, Healthway is investing in local solutions that build stronger, healthier bodies and brighter futures.

Planning for sustainability

Last week, Healthway brought people across sports, arts and community together to tackle a big question: What happens when funding ends?

We didn’t just talk theory. We explored practical ways to make health promotion projects sustainable from day one. Led by Healthway's Executive Director Carina Tan-Van Baren, five experts shared real wins, lessons and opportunities to keep programs thriving.

And we’re not stopping here. More of these practical and informative sessions are on the way - stay tuned!

It’s time for change

We like to think we’re a healthy, active country but, out of 146 countries, Australian young people rank 140th for physical activity.

That’s a serious wake-up call.

Healthway believes the solution starts close to home. Picture this: public school gates unlocked after hours—turning spaces we already have into places for play, connection and community.

We’ve shared this vision in our submission to the WA inquiry on opening school facilities for community use. Read it here.

Healthy futures start with healthy food

Every child deserves food that's safe, nutritious and delicious - fuel for growing strong, learning well and playing to their fullest potential.

That’s why Foodcore Nutrition Services, with Healthway’s support, is kicking off a new pilot to boost food and nutrition practices in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services.

Selected services will work with Foodcore to:

  • Create healthy, inclusive menus that kids love
  • Access expert training for educators
  • Embed best practice with tailored policy guidance.
