Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

28 February 2022

Dear Resident and Family Members,
COVID-19 Update for Residents and Families of Calvary Brighton-Le-Sands

I am pleased to inform residents and families that all tested Preston House residents at Calvary Brighton-Le-Sands have received negative results from the latest round of testing.
In line with Public Health Unit advice, all Preston House residents (apart from those with an active COVID-19 diagnosis) are now able to move freely throughout their household. However, at present they cannot visit other households within the home.

We will continue to liaise closely with Public Health Unit officials, who will make the decision about whether and when it is safe to remove the current restrictions. Our staff will continue to closely monitor all residents for symptoms of COVID-19, and we will keep you informed when any further information is available.

I expect our next communication to you will be at the beginning of next week.

Consistent with Calvary’s Position Statement on Visiting in Aged Care, Calvary Brighton-Le-Sands remains open to visitors, however screening processes remain in place to ensure the safety of residents, staff and visitors.

Information for visitors.

  • Visitor access to the home is via reception ONLY. Access via other entrances has been restricted. Please call staff (02 8922 6000) for carpark access if required.
  • Only one (1) fully vaccinated visitor per resident, per day is permitted entry to the home.
  • Visitors will be required to complete screening requirements prior to entry and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) whilst visiting. This will include face shields and masks.Calvary will provide the required PPE and staff will assist you as needed.
  • Visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT) on arrival and before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process. Please remember to social distance while you are waiting.
  • Visiting hours are from 11.00am – 6.00pm daily, with last entry to the building permitted at 4.30pm. This is to ensure all screening processes can be completed with our day staff.
  • Visitors must continue to maintain social distancing and hand hygiene requirements whilst visiting.
  • Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Amanda Bennett,
General Manager Aged Care
