Click here Dear EOA Subscriber, EOA will be kicking off the 2024 Experts Panel webinar series on Wednesday, 27th March at noon (AEDT) with a session on the topic of Canada’s recent legislative program designed to dramatically grow the number of employee-owned companies in that country. For this inaugural 2024 session, we are pleased to be joined by our special guest from Canada - Jon Shell, Chair, of Social Capital Partners (SCP), a long-time enthusiast for employee ownership who has done much to instigate the pro-employee ownership legislative developments in Canada, starting with the release of the excellent white paper, “Building the Employee Ownership Economy” in 2022. Jon will be discussing with EOA Chair Andrew Clements how the advocacy campaign and legislative program has progressed in Canada over the past few years, and what we might learn from their successes. This webinar will be held on Wednesday, 27th March, 2024 at noon (AEDT). After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information on how to join the webinar. The Canadian Employee Ownership Coalition was formed in early 2023 to support this effort, though the advocacy has developed since 2020, led by Social Capital Partners and others. As Canada looks to follow in the footsteps of the United States and the United Kingdom, the movement to increase employee ownership is spreading around the world. Australia will be rapidly catching up with these developments. About the speakerJon Shell is Chair of Social Capital Partners (SCP). SCP is an independently funded non-profit founded in 2001, whose mission is to build a more resilient economy through broad-based ownership and quality employment. SCP has led the advocacy for Employee Ownership Trusts in Canada and led the financing of the sale of Taylor Guitars to its 1,400 workers in the US in 2021. Jon is a co-founder and a member of the steering committee of the Canadian Employee Ownership Coalition. Prior to joining SCP, Jon co-founded the largest veterinary service providers in both Canada and Australia (where he lived from 2013-16) and worked as a management consultant at McKinsey and Company. We look forward to exploring the webinar topic with Jon and all the participants in the webinar. Latest newsYou can also check out our latest blog pieces, as follows: 1.
