Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust has invested in AccessAble; a world leader in the provision of accessibility information, to provide their patients with vital details on how to access services easily. The Trust has worked with AccessAble to create multiple Detailed Access Guides for facilities, wards and departments at all of their services and sites. As part of this work, AccessAble gave Trust sites a full accessibility survey and recommended works to improve accessibility. The outcomes of their suggestions will continue to inform a rolling programme of site maintenance to further improve services. The Guides provide detailed facts, figures and photographs to help patients, visitors and staff plan their journeys to and around the Trust facilities, covering everything from parking facilities and assistive listening devices, to walking distances and accessible toilets. World Mental Health Day Art Exhibition coming to Hull We are marking World Mental Health Day 2024 on Thursday 10 October by launching an art exhibition at Humber Street Gallery in Hull. The art exhibition will display a range of art and creativity produced by staff and patients from the Trust’s mental health inpatient units and will run from Thursday 10 October until Saturday 12 October. The event begins with a special event inviting all contributors to take a first look at the exhibition and remains open to the public over the weekend. The hope is that the exhibition will not only inspire positive mental health, but also raise awareness of the way in which art and creativity are vital in therapeutic methods for those needing support with their mental health. Submit Your Work for the Exhibition We are also inviting members of the public who have lived experience of managing their own mental health struggles to produce a piece of personal artwork and submit to the exhibition. For anyone wishing to submit a piece of art for the exhibition, please email the curating team on HNF-TR.communications@nhs.net. Entries can be sent as photographs or attachments via email, or for physical pieces of art please contact the team to arrange drop off. Friends and Family Test The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. It provides a mechanism to highlight patient experience and is vital in transforming NHS services, supporting patient choice and implementing changes based on your feedback. Each month we will be sharing patient experiences from our different services, alongside a patient comment. 96.69% of respondents thought they were involved in their care and listened to in Mental Health Planned Care in August. "Compassionate and understanding throughout. Informative, I got to understand a lot about my mental health issues...and was empowered to put positive change in place." Engagement Opportunities Humber Youth Action Group (HYAG) Do you know of any young people that might like to help us shape and improve our services at Humber through co-production? If so, please encourage them to join HYAG where young people aged 11-25 come together and tell us their thoughts, ideas and opinions about our services - they are truly making a difference. By joining, young people can interview new staff members, design new websites and marketing materials, develop their C/V, make new friends, and understand how the NHS is ran and funded. We understand joining a new group can be scary, that's why our Engagement Manager and Assistant for Children's Services can meet young people before choosing to join to ease any anxiety that they may have and answer any questions before their first meeting. If you would also like to bring any co-production projects or ideas to the group or need help from the HYAG, please email Bethia (Engagement Manager) at bethiadennis@nhs.net or Flick (Engagement Assistant) at felicity.hague@nhs.net.
