Thankful -
This is the time of year when I try to take a step back, forget the crazy schedules and deadlines, and reflect on all around me that is good. It only takes a moment to realize what I am thankful for. That list is long! At the top, I find family, friends, health, career, the teams I work with, hobbies, the beauty of the world around me, and yet another day to experience and appreciate all of these things.
I recently heard James Lawrence, the Iron Cowboy, speak. Mr. Lawrence is
renowned for competing in 50 Ironman triathlons in 50 states in 50 days. He then went on to compete in 100 consecutive triathlons. Please take a few minutes to check out the video link below to better appreciate the extremes he went through. James shared a story about a race in which he was joined by a young man afflicted with Cerebral Palsy. James towed Dayton in a rubber raft for the 2.4 mile swim, pulled him in a custom-made cart for the 112 mile bike ride, and pushed him in a competition stroller for the 26.2 mile run. A malfunction with the bicycle cart almost ended their quest, but a stabilizing hand from James’ wife, Sunny, gave them the ability to finish the ride. In spite of their determination, however, their bicycle delay caused them to run out of daylight. This would normally prohibit James and Dayton from finishing, but a police car pulled in front of them to light the
way for their run. As they crossed the finish line many grueling hours after they started, James looked down to see happiness spread across Dayton’s face.
I know that many of you participate in triathlons, marathons, and lots of other
physical and mental competitions, and you are well aware of the huge commitment and toll they can take. I’m also sure that all of you recognize the massive difference a good team can make in any of our endeavors. James Lawrence stated that “nothing great is ever accomplished on our own.” He was referring to the people with him as he hung that medal around Dayton’s neck. I am extremely thankful for every one of you and the teams you’re on, and for the amazing things you get to do tomorrow.

MOC webpage, Journal Club, add me to the Google Group/Listserv! Technical issues with Prolydian?
If you have a simple technical issue please contact Prolydian at support+abvp@prolydian.com before emailing info@abvp.com.
Question about your MOC? Contact your MOC RVS Vice Chair first. The email addresses are below and in the MOC Handbook. Do you want to review the prior Journal Club Articles?
The archive is here: Citations of all prior Journal Club Articles Updated Step-By-Step Guides: All aspects of the Maintenance of Certification Process are now on the website. If you do not see the 2025 guides, clear your cache and reload the webpage. STOP! If you have completed MOC, do NOT start uploading items before your next cycle begins. They will NOT be counted. This would be like telling the state board of veterinary medicine that I uploaded 60 CE this year, so I should not have to renew for the next 5 years. All points must occur in the cycle that you are in. Carry-Over Points: You are allowed up to 50 points to “carry-over” to your next cycle. To claim these, be sure to screenshot the points total in your Prolydian account. Save this screenshot and submit it in the Additional Points Category, Carry-Over Points Activity AFTER your next cycle begins. This information will be added to the updated Handbook in 2025. Points Bucket Full? Once you have met your points in a Category and have a maximum of 50 Carry-Over points, if desired, do not continue to submit applications. It just creates extra work for our volunteers. Please allow extra time through the holidays. - Feel free to email your RVS (specialty) Vice Chair with any questions. They are there to help you. Please do not contact your regent for MOC questions.
- If you do not get a reply within
a week, please contact me. I try to check my email daily. Sometimes work gets in the way, but I will get back to you as soon as I can.
The Maintenance of Certification Committee wishes you and your family peace, love, and happiness throughout the holiday season and in the new year!

ABVP's Leadership Development Committee is tasked with a variety of functions. One is to review current leadership and determine strengths and weaknesses so that we can help our volunteers to be better at their jobs. Regent surveys have been emailed to all Diplomates, so please check your inbox. If you're a Diplomate in more than one RVS, please fill out a separate survey for each RVS. A link to the survey can also be found below.
Committee members will also receive a survey to review their Committee Chair and Vice Chair. You can also find a link to the survey below.
Surveys are anonymous, but you can request a response from your Regent or Chair/Vice Chair by adding your contact information at the end of the survey. Responses close on January 10, 2025.
