Two new major funding opportunities for Barnet VCFSEs 

The Barnet Together Partnership with our wider Alliance partner, Barnet Council, are delighted to announce two new funds for Barnet’s Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector, and to remind you of some other existing funding available to you.

Barnet Community Fund - closing this Sunday!

Grants between £1,000 - £10,000 to help Barnet organisations provide additional support to existing projects.

Deadline: Sunday 20 November, 23:39

 

Barnet Community Innovation Fund

This autumn 2022, £240,000 is available for local, innovative project that focus on the cost of living crisis and its impact on health of our residents.

Projects can be funded with:

  • Small grant (up to £2,000)
  • Start up grant (up to £10,000)
  • Big idea grant (£10,000 - £65,000)

Deadline: Wednesday 30 November, 5pm

Winter Festival Funding

Barnet Council now accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for community groups to host Winter Festival events. Funding up to £1,000 available. These can be faith, cultural or community based.

Groups must send the completed application to community@barnet.gov.uk at least four weeks before their event.

If you have an event planned that you would like included in Barnet Council’s listings, please email it to: community@barnet.org.uk with the subject heading ‘Barnet Winter Festival Event Listing’

Charities Aid Foundation Keystone Fund

The Keystone Fund will allow locally and regionally-focused charities working towards social equity to become more agile in their support for their communities.

Grants between £5,000 and £50,000 will be awarded over 2-3 rounds during 2022-23 to charities adapting their ways of working and bolstering their core building blocks.

Stage 1 applications close Wednesday 23 November. Stage 2 applications open 7 December - 9 January.

Active Spaces Fund

The London Marathon Charitable Trust has announced the new Active Spaces Fund, which is making £5 million available over the next three years to improve spaces and inspire activity in London.

Grants of up to £20,000 are being offered to organisations in London that are helping children and young people and marginalised groups to lead active and healthy lives.

Deadline: Friday 16 December

The Hedley Foundation grants

The Hedley Foundation award regular grants of up to £5,000 for charities to improve outcomes for their beneficiaries.

Zero Suicide Alliance training

The Barnet Wellbeing service is hosting a Zero Suicide Alliance Lunch and Learn with Public Health. 

Join this free event to participate in training enabling you to have a potentially life-saving conversation with a loved one, colleague or stranger in crisis.

Mental Health First Aider refresher course

Did you complete your Mental Health First Aider course over three years ago? Then you could probably do with a refresher!

Barnet Council and MHFA England are offering a free online efresher session to keep you up to date in everything you need to know about supporting people with mental health issues.

Burnt Oak Saturday Socials

Burnt Oak Library are hosting a series of Saturday Socials to encourage residents to get to know the community better. 

The events take place at 2-4pm each Saturday and there is no need to book.

Barnet Carers are inviting you to their next Online Forum, where they will help you to understand the rights of carers, based on the Care Act.

There will be speakers from Adult Social Care and Children and Family Services discussing assessment processes and answering your questions.

Inkluder CIC presents That’s Drag Bingo for Worlds Aids Day

We have come a long long way in the past 40 years in regards to the global fight against AIDS and the stigma of living with HIV. However there’s still much work to be done. So this world AIDS day, Inkluder CIC are celebrating the milestones that have been made with a big old game of That’s Drag Bingo to help raise some necessary funding to spread the message to GET TESTED across Barnet.

Join the fun as Barnet’s most famous Drag Family teach you all about U=U and pit you against each other in a lip-sync showdown for a t-shirt! The theme is RED but come as you please!

This event will include a BSL interpreter.

Join the Warm Spaces initiative

Warm Spaces is a community-led initiative where local businesses and community groups provide a welcoming space for residents to stay warm and engage with others in their community. 

If you run a business or community, faith or social enterprise organisation, you can join the scheme by offering your space.

The two Barnet funds would be ideal if you were planning on opening up your venue as a warm space and provide free activities .

Young Barnet Foundation's Christmas Gift Appeal

Since its beginning in 2018, Young Barnet Foundation's Christmas Gift Appeal has provided 7,000 presents for children and young people in the Borough. 

This year, the cost of living crisis will make it even more difficult for parents and carers to provide for their children.

That's why YBF is asking you to get invovled and donate Christmas presents or volunteer with the gift appeal.

This free, short, course provides an introduction to Ukrainian Languages and Culture and is for anybody who is interested in finding out about Ukraine and it's people. 

Written and developed with an Ukrainian academic, it's a great opportunity for people hosting refugees in their homes.

The team at Smiley News are seeking charities to get involved with two of their campaigns:

1. CEOs in unlikely places

They are looking to interview CEOs about their work, what inspires them, what gets them up in the morning... but in an unusual place. 

2. Payday Pledge

Smiley News are creating a monthly video series explaining what different donation amounts can do for a charity.

WrapUp London Winter Coats 

Each November, WrapUp London brings together Londoners to collect, sort, and distribute coats to charities and projects supporting service users.

From 7 to 27 November, the following Barnet Libraries will be drop off points, during staffed hours: Childs Hill, Chipping Barnet, Colindale, Edgware, Finchley Church End, Hendon, North Finchley.

Sarah Chaffey, Communications and Engagement Officer

Sarah joined us in June 2022 after recently graduating from the University of Westminster.

She helps out with our newsletters (like this one!), social media and other communications materials, as well as attending meetings with our environmental network.

Sarah also spends half her time working for Inclusion Barnet's Communications and Engagement team, working on their social platforms and getting out into Barnet and meeting residents and organisations.

Head of Peer Services (Peer Role) - Inclusion Barnet

This is an amazing opportunity for someone with lived experience of disability (which could include experience of mental health issues or a long term condition) to lead on our Peer Services function.  This is really varied and interesting role, where time will be split between supporting our service manager, developing and delivering training, advising on co-production, and leading practitioner meetings around related topics, including safeguarding.

Part-time: 28 hours per week
Salary: £43,000 per year pro rata, actual salary £34,400        Deadline: Thursday 1 December

Carers’ Case Worker - Barnet Mencap

Do you want to make a positive difference to the lives of others?

Barnet Mencap are looking for a focused individual to join our caring, passionate, and diverse team in offering information, advice, and guidance to parents of people with additional needs. This role gives challenge and satisfaction and will suit someone that has:

  • an understanding of the issues faced by people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people
  • experience of working with people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people
  • good communication and literacy skills

Part-time: 28 hours
Salary: £24,701 pro-rata i.e., £19,761 per annum
