Practice Alert: Hot water safetyHot water safety is a major issue for people with disability. Hot water is normally stored at temperatures above 60°C to avoid bacteria contaminating the water. However, at this temperature it will take seconds to scald. We have developed a practice alert called Hot water safety. It explains how providers can reduce the risk of scalding burns to participants and your obligations as a provider regarding hot water safety. The practice alert is available on the NDIS Commission website. Please read and follow the guidance outlined in this practice alert, and share it with your workers who support people with disability.
