New book, updates and a giveaway! No images? Click here Hello everyone! Winter is here in New Zealand, and definitely today! The current weather is a mixture of strong winds and rain interrupted by heavy showers or, like the last two days (at time of writing) glorious sunshine. The ski fields are on the news at the moment, as they prepare to get ready for the first snows and hopefully the tourists will be back this year, for a well needed boost to the economy. I do hope you enjoy this season's update, there is plenty going on. Project 1 vs Project 2In my latest news post on the website, you may recall I was working on two stories. The good news is that the decision has been made on which one to continue with. There was definitely a clear 'winner' I gravitated towards a few weeks in, and I'm as committed as I can be now to that being the next book off the IanAustinAuthor production line! There will be some familiar characters and a few new ones introduced for the first time. Watch this space! Man. Made. is ready to go to the printers with one or two publication dates in mind, however I am having to hold off on making that date decision for a little while longer, until I wrap up one particular issue which I'm sworn to secrecy about for now. I have decided on the cover design which will be a real departure from what I first intended. It's bold, it's in your face and I'm looking forward to showing you it soon too. I'm not trying to build up the suspense, I promise you. I'll announce the date as soon as I can... But wait there is more...I've also been working on another project recently, to complement my writing. I'm compiling a list of real life experiences I had myself during my career and also a list of incidents and experiences from fellow officers that I have knowledge of. I hope to use even more of them in future books, to bring you as close to the action as possible. Of course there will be a good amount of literary licence thrown into the mix, so any finished product has that great combination of fact vs fiction, to leave you wondering where the real life incident ended and the writer's imagination took over. Watch this space. A true Dan Calder fanYou may have seen on my social media pages I introduce a new friend and Calder fan, Alex Dakamari from Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. I've now sent my first books parcel via Police colleagues in the last week. They may take a while to get there but I'm excited to hear what Alex makes of them when they do finally arrive. I hope he doesn't say he's read them all already! Read more about Alex's story below. Finally for this newsletter I feel it's time for another giveaway (I will also put this out on my social media pages to correspond the timing.) If you would like to receive a FREE COPY of any one of my Dan Calder books, just send me a message below, or via the website or social media pages. Simply tell me what book you'd like and why. I'll pick one and that book will be on its way to the lucky winner anywhere in the world... even Papua New Guinea. Until next time , lots of love. Ian. |
