With midterms coming up, it’s important to prioritize both your coursework and your wellness. Carleton has many resources to help you stay on track, from academic support and employability to wellness. During the winter break, the university is closed on Monday, February 19, 2024, for the Family Day holiday. While classes are paused from Tuesday, February 20 to Friday, February 23, 2024, campus remains open. Important Dates Monday, February 19, 2024: Statutory holiday. University closed. Monday, February 19 to Friday, February 23, 2024: Winter break. No classes. Culture of Consent for Valentine’s DayValentine’s Day is almost here! Whether you love using this holiday to profess your love to your significant other, or you dislike ‘Hallmark holidays’ in general, it provides an opportunity for the community to discuss consent, sexual health and substance use. Carleton offers information and resources to help create a culture of consent at any time of year. Coming Up at Career Services Career Services has a variety of workshops and employer info sessions coming up in the next few weeks. This includes resume workshops on Applicant Tracking Software and AI, and two sessions for students and alumni who are considering graduate or professional studies. Senate Call for Nominations: Undergraduate Students The Carleton University Senate is currently accepting nominations for undergraduate students from all faculties to serve on Senate for a one-year term, beginning Monday, July 1, 2024, and ending Monday, June 30, 2025. If you are interested in serving on Senate, please complete the online nomination form by Friday, March 1, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. Bird Friendly Art by Carleton Conservation Collective The Carleton Conservation Collective and local artist Maria Gomez Umana will be painting a bird-friendly mural on the walkways connecting Mackenzie and Architecture buildings from Monday, February 26 to Friday, March 1, 2024. The Bird Friendly Art project aims to make Carleton more bird-friendly and help prevent future collisions on campus. Emergency Notification System Test A test of Carleton’s Emergency Notification System (ENS) will be conducted on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at approximately 11:15 a.m. This test will include three types of notifications: campus computer screen messages, emails sent out to all Carleton University addresses, and a push notification through the Carleton Mobile app. To ensure you receive ENS alerts on your mobile device, please download the Carleton Mobile app and ensure you enable notifications under your mobile device settings. Download the ENS desktop application to receive ENS notifications on your personal laptop. 2024 MeWeRTH Magazine: Science of Living Well The first-ever edition of MeWeRTH’s magazine, Science of Living Well: Strategies to improve your well-being is now available! This is a magazine for everyone with content highlighting mental health and psychology research conducted here at Carleton. The Summer Session is Almost Here While it’s still cold outside, you may want to start thinking about summer session courses. The summer session is a great time to catch up or get ahead on your studies. The summer schedule is now available, and registration begins Thursday, March 21, 2024, for degree students.
