Check it out HERE! ![]() ![]() Events and General Announcements P1-P3 absence requests for first module due TODAY (and religious holidays by 9/15)! Welcome back! We are looking forward to a fabulous fall 2023 semester! If you know you will need to be absent from class this semester, please complete the excused absence request form, linked here in STP (and in all your course syllabi and in the Student Handbook and on the PCP Student Google site). Requests for planned absences are due on the first day of each module (or the week before the module if the absence happens in the first week of the module), so for your first fall module, that means TODAY! Absences for all religious holidays occurring in the fall 2023 semester should be requested by Friday 9/15, even if the date of the holiday has not been determined exactly yet. We want to make sure you get the best learning experience possible, and we can only do that if we can plan ahead for the times you need to miss class. If you have questions, please reach out to Drs. In this course, students and faculty discuss current literature in the area of Pharmaceutics, Formulation Development, and Drug Delivery. Each week, members of the class participate in reading and understanding the various components of a scientific paper. In the Introduction, we become familiar with the background to the research question and the specific objectives of the paper. We attempt to understand the principles of the various Methods/Techniques used in the paper. We analyze the Results and assess clarity of their presentation. Finally, in the Discussion we summarize the conclusions and determine if the authors have met the objectives of the study. Posted by Dr. Mercier. 8/28 P1 Google Formapalooza! ISO P1-P3 transfer students to serve as Graduate Ambassadors! Did you join PCP as a P1 student? Do you want to help other students looking to transfer into PCP as a P1? Then we need you! Apply to be a Graduate Ambassador for the 2023-2024 school year! This is a work/study position that allows you to be part of the recruitment process for external prospective students, including interview days, virtual interactions and open house events. Interested in being part of a student focus group that will help us revise and validate the ESAR student survey? As part of an IRB approved research project, we are recruiting for P1-P4 students to participate in a focus group discussing the survey questions and how you interpret them. The focus group is voluntary, will last around 60 minutes, and is completely confidential. PCP Student Council is now opening up the application to be a class representative for your year or to be a part of our committees! Being a class representative is a great leadership opportunity that helps bridge our classmates with the Council so we can better serve our peers. Being part of a committee focuses on different aspects of PCP that can perform better with the input of dedicated student leaders. THE APPLICATION IS DUE SEPTEMBER 4TH. These roles require your attendance in monthly PCP Student Council meetings and varying frequency of meetings within each committees. For two years, Elkanah Linder, PharmD ‘21, has been part of the pharmacoepidemiology research group within the Department of Pharmacy at Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden as a Fulbright scholar and then research assistant. Her Fulbright research, 2021-2022, focused on stakeholders’ perspectives and use of two web-based knowledge support systems that provide environmental information on pharmaceuticals. In addition to her own research, she has coordinated and collaborated on several Swedish national and international research projects as well as educational initiatives pertaining to pharmaceuticals in the environment. The ACT Pharmacy Collaborative is launching the Community Pharmacy Student Scholar Leaders Program, supported by the Community Pharmacy Foundation, to give P2-P4 PharmD students the opportunity to 1) develop leadership skills, 2) cultivate a network of colleagues interested in community-based pharmacy practice, 3) apply important community pharmacy transformation concepts and theories, and 4) create a practice transformation philosophy and a career development plan to drive community-based pharmacy practice.
