Click here November 2024 ![]() ❄️ Burnley Believes in Christmas ❄️ Burnley Believes Christmas Light Switch On set to return next week with a magical line-up of festive fun ![]() Christmas is coming to town as Burnley prepares to light up the season with its most magical event of the year! The Burnley Believes Christmas Light Switch On is set to make a marvellous return on Saturday 16th November, and we'd like all of you to join in the festivities. Filled with dazzling activities, delightful entertainment, and a sprinkle of magic, this event is sure to get everyone in the spirit of Christmas. Launching from 12pm, the streets will be buzzing with holiday cheer as families enjoy a host of Christmas activities, including Christmas-themed Crazy Golf, festive face painting, performances with Punch & Judy, balloon modelling, comedy magic, letter writing and a Fun Fair. Little ones can meet their favourite characters as Lilo and Stitch mascots make an exciting appearance, as well as a Santa Claus meet and greet from 3.15 - 3.45pm at Pioneer Place, while families can explore an enchanting prize-filled Festive Trail across the town. Bringing a magical touch to the festivities, the Burnley Silver Alliance Brass Band will set the perfect yuletide tone with classic Christmas tunes, while over on the live stage hosted by Gavin Young from 12pm – 5.30pm, an array of performers will entertain the crowds, including performances from guitarist and vocalist Andrew Gilmour, social media’s Ice-Cream Twins, Channy, local vocalist Jess McGlinchey, and dance performances from Next Level Dance, Ashworth's Dance Academy, DLN Dance, Scoop! and Burnley College Performing Arts. An Interactive Elf Show and a princess takeover will also take place on the main stage, as well as the Burnley Panto Society, who will also delight audiences with a sneak peek of their upcoming production of Peter Pan. Join us for the magical lantern parade led by the incredible Batala Lancaster drummers starting at 4.15pm from Pioneer Place, accompanied by none other than Santa Claus himself. The Burnley BID 2 draft business plan is the result of consultations with businesses and organisations in Burnley earlier this year. The feedback from those consultations has identified a range of issues and opportunities that the BID would deliver through three themes as follows:
To help inform this decision, we have drafted a BID 2 business plan outlining how we will continue to support businesses and organisations over an additional five-year term. In this draft business plan we represent the interests of all BID levy payers and those in the proposed geographical area. An Update on the Autumn Budget: Business Rates For 2025/26, eligible retail, hospitality and leisure (RHL) properties in England will receive 40% relief on their business rates liability. RHL properties will be eligible to receive support up to a cash cap of £110,000 per business. For 2025/26, the small business multiplier in England will be frozen at 49.9p and the standard multiplier will be increased to 55.5p. Burnley Blooms with a Bronze Award ![]() We're thrilled to announce that Burnley BID has won a Bronze award for its participation in Britain in Bloom with the RHS. One of the most effective, and longest running environmental competitions in the United Kingdom, the ‘In Bloom’ campaign brings together the entire community, showcasing floral displays across the BID area. The displays were visited during the summer by expert judges, with our town winning the Bronze award for the BID category. We'd like to thank everyone who participated in this year's event.
