Construction on Stage 1 of the SH16 Brigham Creek to Waimauku safety improvements project is continuing throughout 2024. We are closing the SH16 / Matua Road intersection from 6 May for safety reasons. The closure will also allow us to complete critical work on utilities as part of the project. We have consulted with the Rodney Local Board who support our plan to close the intersection to keep people traveling in and around this area safe. The detour route will add approximately 4-9 minutes to a journey, please see below for a map of the detour route.

What's happening?

  • We are installing a closure at the Matua Road/SH16 intersection from 6th May 2024 until project completion in late 2025.
  • There will be no access into or out of Matua Road from SH16.
  • We'll be working with other contractors delivering works in the area, including Auckland Transport, during this period.

Who's affected?

  • During the works the road will be closed to through-traffic only between:

              o 212 Matua Road and SH16
o 2 McIndoe Road and Matua Road
o Matua Road to the end of Meryl Avenue.

  • All residents will have acess to ther properties at all times.
  • Emergency services have been notified.

Thank you for your understanding and patience whilst we complete this important safety improvements project.
