Trust News Trust tops the region in national league tablesThe NHS Oversight Framework, which reviews performance across all NHS organisations, has been published to show how acute, non-acute and ambulance Trusts are performing against a range of criteria. Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust has been ranked in segment two of four in the non-acute provider league table, narrowly missing the top category. The result reflects the quality of care and commitment of its staff, reinforcing the Trust’s strong national standing and placing it as the highest performer in the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board area. Connect website wins Highly Commended award at HSJ Patient Safety AwardsThe Trust recently launched the Connect website made specifically for children, young people, adults with learning disabilities and their families. On Monday 15th September the team brought home the Highly Commended award in the category of Learning Disability Initiative of the Year at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Patient Safety Awards for the project. Carpenter turned Specialist Nurse retires after 33 years with poignant message to colleaguesRobert Freear, a Specialist Nurse working for the Trust retires this month after 33 years of dedication supporting patients. His most recent role within Bridlington and Driffield Community Mental Health Team is a far cry from his original career in carpentry but has brought him a great deal of joy. As his parting gift Robert wrote a message to say goodbye to Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and the staff he has shared his journey with. New Autism Mental Health Support Service Launched in Hull and East RidingWe recently announced the launch of an innovative new service to improve care received by autistic patients accessing mental health services. The Autism Mental Health Support Service (AMHSS) is a dedicated, neuro-affirming service working alongside mental health services and with autistic individuals to help improve mental health, reduce the need for hospital admissions and support timely, well-planned discharges. The team includes occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and nurses. All of which have received specialist training in autism. Seeds of Support Donor Wall for Malton HospitalThe Trust’s charity, Health Stars, is inviting members of the local community to help transform lives at Malton Community Hospital through a beautiful new initiative: the ‘Seeds of Support’ Donor Wall. This inspiring campaign is part of the Better Days Appeal, aiming to fund the creation of a new dementia-friendly day room on Fitzwilliam Ward. The day room will provide a dedicated space for patients, visitors and staff to relax, connect and engage in therapeutic activities. Engagement Opportunities ![]() Creative Connections – join our art exhibition and workshops this World Mental Health Day! Following the success of last year’s exhibition, Inner Reflections, we’re inviting people from our local communities to get involved and join us at this year’s World Mental Health Day event. Creative Connections will take place at Princes Quay (Ground Floor) in Hull, between 11am and 3pm on Friday 10 October 2025. During the event, there will be an art exhibition on show, filled with artwork from patients, service users, friends and family and the public. There will also be a series of free art workshops and activities for visitors to get involved in on the day, such as doodle art and kintsugi (the Japanese art of mending broken pottery). ![]() Early field work analysis places Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust in the top 10 organisations in the country with a response rate of 15%! The 2025 Community Mental Health Services Service User Survey has now been running for four weeks. As of the 19th September, the average response rate for Trust’s using IQVIA is 11.4%, meaning we are 3.6% above the national average! The overall response rate at this stage of the fieldwork, for the Trusts using IQVIA, is 11.4%. The response rate for Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is 15% as of 19th September. Friends and Family Test The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. It provides a mechanism to highlight patient experience and is vital in transforming NHS services, supporting patient choice and implementing changes based on your feedback. Each month we will be sharing patient experiences from our different services, alongside a patient comment. 95.37% of respondents thought they were involved in their care and listened to within our Community and Primary Care services in July. "Always warm, friendly and empathetic to my health needs".
