Latest News City of Charles Sturt Business Survey 2024 Closing Last chance to provide your feedback by 5pm on 2 February 2024, to go in the draw to win a free business photoshoot for your business! Last year we conducted a survey to find out more about the businesses that operate in our city. We are again reaching out to our community, to find out what has changed, what opportunities and challenges there are and how we can support you. Your feedback will influence the service, programs and activities we deliver to our business community and inform the content of our 2024-2025 Business Plan and the implementation of our Economic Development Strategy 2022-2026. Allied Corporation Partnership Announcement Google Chromebook laptops for Australian school students will be manufactured in Adelaide under a new partnership between Beverley computer company Allied Corporation and Google. This partnership is ground-breaking as it connects a global tech heavyweight with a leading South Australian manufacturer in Allied Corporation. We are proud that devices manufactured here in our City are a viable option for our South Australian schools and indeed for schools across the country. How do you rate our performance? Our 2024 Community Survey is now open for resident feedback and we'd love you to share your thoughts with us. Your feedback helps us to continue to make our City a great place to live, work study and play. Shine Hub Council is committed to reducing our carbon emissions and have invested in solar for our facilities and declared a Climate Emergency in 2019. While all of this helps, we have also identified a way to assist our community to choose renewables as an alternative, further reducing the energy load as well as household budgets. Partnering with ShineHub, we are excited to offer Charles Sturt residents and businesses the chance to be part of our 2024 Solar Bulk Buy, a community renewables program. Most recently residents of City of Mitcham have taken part in this program with great success. Learn more about the program below. Babcock Babcock Australasia and Commercial & General have established a partnership for the current construction of a new $31 million manufacturing, warehouse, and office facility on Torrens Road. The 4000m2 purpose-built manufacturing facility and 2000m2 administrative support building will underpin Babcock Australasia’s delivery of support to land and naval defence programs. The remainder of the one-hectare site is being kept in readiness for potential expansion to cater for future AUKUS support. Invest in the West News A lease opportunity has become available in Woodville North. The property boasts 610m2 total, with a 570m2 warehouse. This unique opportunity for a building and planning approved microbrewery has two years remaining on the lease. Upcoming Events Western Business Leaders - Invest in the West Join us at our next highly anticipated Invest in the West event for an update on the exciting developments happening in our city. Following the completion of Stage 1 of the Woodville Road Streetscape Upgrade Project, our next installment of our investment series will focus on Woodville Road and the exciting projects happening to deliver council's strategic vision. Woodville is set to redefine suburban living in Adelaide, with Peet redeveloping the land between the train station and St Clair Recreation Centre into a thriving master-planned community with the perfect blend of urban living and open green space. Heading west, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital redevelopment project, a purpose-built clinical services building, is under construction on Woodville Road and is expected to be completed by mid-2024. Toucan Tango Over the weekend, a new acai bar opened in Henley Beach! Toucan Tango is the newest foodie hotspot by Alex Apostolakos of Lukoumades. They celebrated their opening by giving away 100kg of acai to eager beach-goers. Tunki Local iconic business, Lakes Hotel, launched their new ceviche and woodfire grill restaurant just in time for summer. Tunki is a blend of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, by Executive Chef Krish Dutt. West Beach Surf Life Saving Club The West Beach Surf Life Saving Club recently opened their long-awaited new bar and bistro. Name a better ocean view in the west! The Pink and Blue Swim, Walk or Run will be returning on 10 February, which is once again sponsored by the City of Charles Sturt. Ocean Alley at Point Malcolm Reserve Australian alternative psychedelic rock band, Ocean Alley, will be performing at Point Malcolm Reserve in Semaphore Park on Saturday 6 April. Western Adelaide Jobs Expo 2024 This is your final call to become an exhibitor at the 2024 expo! The Western Adelaide Jobs Expo is an opportunity for local employers and service providers to share information on where the jobs are and how to get them. This free event is for all jobs seekers including those still at school and will share valuable information about the jobs currently available, apprenticeships and traineeships. On the day there will also be guest presenters, resume workshops, career guidance, and current vacancies on the jobs board. See it LIVE The South Australian Government’s $10 million See it LIVE support package is reviving the live music industry through a range of support for live music and hospitality venues, promoters and more. The package aims to support a whole new calendar of live gigs and festivals from 2022 to 2024, offering audiences a great opportunity to get along to a music performance and revitalising our nightlife. The following initiatives are available, as part of the See it LIVE program: Small Business Week The South Australian Government will be presenting Small Business Week 2024, a week of events, workshops and information sessions to help you strengthen and grow your small business. If you run or work in one of South Australia's 150,000 small businesses, you're invited to participate in variety of in-person and online events across the state, designed to support your growth and development. The theme of the week is ‘helping you get on with business’, with a program designed around useful topics that we know small businesses are interested in. The Adelaide Beaches website is the premier website for all there is to see and do and where to stay in the Western Region of Adelaide and you can be listed on it. Is your business listed on ATDW?The Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) is the national online platform for tourism information. Through ATDW, you can create listings for your business and products, which can appear on sites including australia.com and southaustralia.com.au. There is no cost to list your business on the ATDW and it is free to have your information featured on the Adelaide Beaches website.
