CIH Launches New ‘Career Builder’ Membership Scheme

The Chartered Institute of Horticulture (CIH) have launched a new membership category specifically for supporting early-career horticulturists.

The new ‘Career Builder’ membership offer is available to anyone with less than five years professional experience in horticulture. This will include college leavers, graduates, career changers and apprentices building on the existing free membership offered to registered horticultural students.

The scheme is designed to introduce early-career horticulturists to the principals of continuing professional development and participation in technical and learned societies. At the end of the 3-year scheme participants will be eligible for full membership and may wish to progress to full chartered status.

Protect your crops from root zone diseases with T34's powerful preventative control

Why use T34 Biocontrol?
T34 is a highly effective, broad spectrum biofungicide. T34 reduces a wide range of root zone diseases including Fusarium oxysporum and Pythium, with some activity on foliar diseases. T34 is suitable for use on a range of edible and ornamental crops. Trials have also shown control of a greater variety of plant diseases than those recorded on label.

Preventing Crop Damage
Diseases of root zone, stem and foliage can cause serious crop damage and when left untreated, can lead to complete crop failure. T34 delivers good levels of Pythium control in crops such as poinsettia.

Trials have shown T34 Biocontrol has activity on a broad spectrum of diseases:
• White rot (Sclerotinia cepivorum)
• Soft rot (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum
 )
• Grey mould (Botrytis cinerea)
• Gummy stem blight (Didymella bryoniae)
• Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum)
• Root rot (Macrophomina phaesolina)
• Blight (Phytophthora capsici)
• Damping off (Pythium aphanidermatum and Rhizoctonia solani)

An effective preventative control for spider mites, rust mites, gall mites and thrips

We are starting to see early reported signs of spider mites across several crops.

Amblyseius andersoni is a predatory mite targeting several crop pests; feeding on mite eggs, juveniles and adults with high efficacy as a preventative and early-stage curative method of control.

Almost all protected crops and soft fruit are vulnerable to infestation. Other spider mites attack plants too, so identification of species is important for correct biological control.
