Shawn Daly                                                            President, West Hartford Girls Basketball League

Dear ,

Registration for the 2025–2026 West Hartford Girls Basketball League season officially closed this past Sunday night, and we are thrilled to announce that we have 270 players registered this season! Thank you to all families for your enthusiasm and support.

Here’s how the league breaks down this year:

  • Minors Division (Grades 3–4): 115 players | 10 teams

  • Juniors Division (Grades 5–6): 86 players | 8 teams

  • Seniors Division (Grades 7–8): 69 players | 6 teams

🏀 Player Assessments – This Saturday, November 15 at Sedgwick Middle School

Please note: The assessment is only for Juniors and Seniors Division players.
Minors Division players do not attend the assessment — they will be assigned to teams by our League Registrar.

While attendance is not mandatory, the league strongly encourages all Juniors and Seniors Division players to participate. This is not a tryout, but rather a skills assessment designed to give our coaches the opportunity to evaluate each player’s abilities before the league draft. This process helps ensure that teams are balanced and players are placed appropriately.

Assessment Schedule – Saturday, November 15:

  • Juniors Division (Grades 5–6):

    • Check-in: 9:30 AM

    • Assessment: 10:00 – 11:30 AM

  • Seniors Division (Grades 7–8):

    • Check-in: 12:00 PM

    • Assessment: 12:30 – 2:00 PM

Location: Sedgwick Middle School Gymnasium

For safety and space reasons, parents are not permitted to watch the assessment or wait in the gymnasium lobby. Families may either wait in their cars or return at the end of the session for pick-up.

🏀 Next Steps by Division

Minors Division (Grades 3–4):
Our League Registrar is currently finalizing team assignments. Once complete, each team’s Head Coach will receive their roster and will contact families directly with details about practices and the season ahead.

Juniors & Seniors Divisions (Grades 5–8):
A player draft will take place on Monday night, November 17. Following the draft, Head Coaches will contact players and parents with team assignments and practice information.

Practices for all divisions begin the week of December 1.
