Click here In a message to the church, Bishop Paul encourages us to pause and reflect on the decisions made at the October 21st Regular Convention of General Synod, particularly regarding the resolution on ordination: 'I commend to you this time following our Convention as a time to pause: to pray and to listen; to listen to each other and to listen to the voice of our Good Shepherd.' Bishop Paul also emphasises the importance of finding 'liminal spaces' in our lives as Christians. Synod enables ordination of both women and men as pastors in our church On 5 October, General Synod resolved to support a proposal from the General Church Board and College of Bishops to remove from the LCA’s Theses of Agreement the paragraph (VI:11) that prohibits women from entering the pastoral ministry. Read more Ten LCANZ congregations will be supported in outreach endeavours through the inaugural grants from the church's Local Mission Fund. The successful applicants for the 2025 grants were announced during a mission-focused session on the first day of Convention. At the time of writing, $10,669.25 has been contributed to the General Synod offering, which will support the Lutheran Study Centre (LSC) in Pematangsiantar in northern Sumatra, Indonesia.
