Hull City Council are running an opportunity to apply to be an Independent Visitor.

Independent Visitors are adults who offer support to children and young people who are living with a foster family or in residential care.

They are separate from social services, all other agencies, and are just for the young person.

  • feel listened to
  • feel valued
  • have some fun

You'll meet with your young person on a long-term basis or for as long as they want an Independent Visitor. Hull City Council young people are aged between 6 and 18 years old.

You will decide with your young person what to do, but activities could include -

  • going to the cinema
  • bowling
  • playing football
  • going to a restaurant
  • riding a bike
  • walking in a park

They aim to match you with a child with whom you share common interests.

Scarborough & Ryedale Patient and Carer Experience Forum – Re-launch Workshops

We’re excited to announce the re-launch of our Joint Patient and Carer Experience Forum, and we want your voice to help shape its future.

These workshops are your chance to tell us what matters to you. These forums are all about patients, service users and carers, so we want to hear your ideas on how they should look and feel. Your input will help us create a space where people feel welcome, involved, and heard.

The Forum first launched in March 2023 as a place for:

  • Sharing real experiences to help improve services.
  • Celebrating great care and learning from what works.
  • Open and honest conversations between patients, carers, staff, and local organisations.
  • Promoting co-production and involvement in Trust activities.

Friends and Family Test

The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. It provides a mechanism to highlight patient experience and is vital in transforming NHS services, supporting patient choice and implementing changes based on your feedback.

Each month we will be sharing patient experiences from our different services, alongside a patient comment.

94.3%

of respondents (88 total) thought they were involved in their care and listened to within the Mental Health Planned Division in January.

"Always having someone to talk to, whether that be good or bad, can talk over phone or will always be someone you can go to the service and talk to face to face."
