Christmas Behind Bars Esther Knott On Sunday, October 27, just before sunrise, more than 250 people made their way to Johnson Gym on the campus of Andrews University for an 8:00 AM start to begin the Christmas Behind Bars project to prepare care packages for those who are in prison. A fresh crew of about 200 more joined the project at 10:00 AM In just 3 hours and 11 minutes the group of approximately 450 men and women, boys and girls, prepared 6,912 bags. During the Christmas season, every inmate in the Nebraska State Penitentiary system will receive one of these care packages. Journey With Jesus We would appreciate your prayers as we get closer to 2025. The North American Division is doing a division-wide evangelistic push called Pentecost 2025. We have stepped out in faith here at Pioneer Memorial Church with a full series called Journey with Jesus. The preachers for this series will be our kids who are excited to tell others about Jesus. We have had more than enough preachers step forward. We have funding falling into place. God is doing big things to make this happen; it is
already evident. We do need your prayers, however. I am excited to see God do a new thing and for this next generation to be a part of it! Penny Arcade November 2 • 8:00 PM Andrews Academy invites all seventh and eighth graders to Penny Arcade on Saturday night, November 2, 2024. It's a fun evening of games, activities, and food, all for just pennies. This is a great opportunity to get to know Andrews Academy students better while enjoying Penny Arcade from 8 to 10 PM. The event is only open to 7th and 8th graders and Andrews Academy students. Parents can drop off their children at 7:45 PM and pick them up by 10 PM. Andrews University Singers present November 2 • 8:00 PM The Andrews University Department of Music invites you to “A Vision Unfolding - Learning from the Past & Present.” The concert features the Andrews University Singers and Chorale. The Singers will start with songs that praise the triune God. The Chorale will perform a new five-part work by Kyle Pederson called “A Vision Unfolding.” This music is inspired by famous American poets like Walt Whitman and Langston Hughes. The piece highlights America’s core values of equality, freedom, and justice for all. I teach communication, and it is so important that students understand the power of their words. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (NIV) and helping my college students understand that and use their words for positive things is always so encouraging to see.
