SLEP Represents Sarnia-Lambton at the Global Affairs Canada Europe Roadshow SLEP CEO Matthew Slotwinski represented the region in London and Zurich as part of the Global Affairs Canada Europe Roadshow 2025. The mission connected Sarnia-Lambton with companies exploring new North American locations and strengthened relationships with federal and provincial partners, including the Trade Commissioner Service, Ontario Investment Offices, and Invest Ontario. These
conversations help open doors for future investment and reinforce Sarnia-Lambton’s position as a reliable place for growth in energy, manufacturing, and clean technology.

Their arrival reflects the Research Park’s continued strength as a hub for technology, financial services, and cross-sector collaboration, supported by
access to skilled talent and strong regional partnerships. These additions further reinforce Sarnia-Lambton’s reputation as a place where businesses can grow and thrive.

SLEP Presents at Scaling Up Bio 2025 in Ottawa SLEP CEO Matthew Slotwinski joined Dr. Mehdi Sheikhzadeh, Senior Vice President of Research and Innovation at Lambton College, at the 2025 Scaling Up Bioeconomy Conference in Ottawa. Moderated by Meaghan Seagrave, Executive Director of Bioindustrial Innovation Canada, the discussion highlighted the work of the Sarnia-Lambton Innovation Bridge Commercialization Hub Alliance and the region’s growing role in advancing bioeconomy innovation. The conference brought together industry, research, and government partners to explore new opportunities that support Canada’s transition to a low-carbon future.

SLEP Launches SkillUP Programs to Strengthen Youth Retention and Local Workforce Development SLEP has launched a new suite of SkillUP programs designed to help local
high school students gain practical experience, explore local career pathways, and build connections with employers across Sarnia-Lambton. These programs support youth in developing the skills they need to succeed while helping local businesses engage with emerging talent. The initiative is part of our ongoing work to strengthen youth retention and create a strong talent pipeline for the region. The SkillUP: Youth Ready program is free for selected students and limited to 25 participants. Applications are open until December 7, 2025. Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership’s Newcomer Hub Making an Early Impact on Local Community Since launching in April, the Sarnia-Lambton Newcomer Hub has
supported Permanent Residents through career workshops, entrepreneurship sessions, mentorship, and community events. The program has welcomed about 100 participants and worked closely with nearly 40 local employers, helping newcomers build skills, make connections, and explore career pathways in the region. With strong partnerships across the community and new programming planned for 2026, the Hub continues to strengthen Sarnia-Lambton’s workforce and support long-term newcomer success. "Get Out of the Way" - A Mastermind Series for Experienced Business Owners This fall, experienced business owners met every two weeks to step back from daily operations, clarify priorities, and strengthen their leadership through the Get Out of the Way Mastermind Series. The sessions created space for honest conversations, practical accountability, and clear next steps to build long-term business value in Sarnia-Lambton. We are now gathering interest for the 2026 Mastermind Group for experienced business owners who want structured peer support and a stronger plan for their business. Celebrating Our 2025 Starter Company Plus Participants The 2025 Starter Company Plus cohort has completed this year’s intensive program, gaining practical training, mentorship, and hands-on support to strengthen their businesses. In addition to receiving a $5,000 grant, participants took part in a series of workshops covering entrepreneurial mindset, financial statements, marketing and branding, operations, and personal finance, along with one-on-one coaching through the Business Enterprise Centre. FedDev Ontario - Funding for Businesses in Southern OntarioFedDev Ontario provides funding and business support to help organizations across southern Ontario innovate, scale their operations, and strengthen regional economic development. - a minimum of $125,000 up to a maximum of $10 million per project
in repayable contribution funding.

Southwestern Ontario Development FundThe Southwestern Ontario Development Fund provides support for projects and investments to existing businesses, municipalities and not-for-profit organizations for economic development in southwestern Ontario. Loans up to
15% funding to a maximum of $5M, interest-free. Up to 30% may be forgiven. Grants up to 15% to a maximum of $500,000. Intake now open
Ontario Centre of Innovation Digitalization Competence Centre ProgramsDCC has three program streams to support SMEs in the adoption and implementation of digital technology: Most OCI programs operate on a rolling or continuous intake basis, allowing applications to be submitted year-round as funding remains available.
Ontario Centre of Innovation - Retail Modernization Project Grant (RMPG)Receive up to $5K in support to adopt and implement digital technologies, hardware and software. Best suited for: Minimum 1 year in business with at least $100K of annual revenue Direct-to-Consumer business with a physical storefront (i.e., retail, restaurants & food, professional services such as hairstyling, florists, etc.) Ontario-based-for-profit business with between 1-50 employees First-come, first-served model, while funds last
Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI) in southern OntarioThe RTRI supports businesses and sectors impacted by tariffs through projects that can be executed in the timeframe of this initiative (March 2025 to March 2028).Businesses can normally request: - $125,000 to
$10 million in repayable funding; or
- $125,000 to $1 million in non-repayable funding.
Not-for-profit organizations can normally request a minimum of $125,000 to $10 million in non-repayable funding. FedDev Ontario is accepting applications on a continuous basis.
Ontario Together Trade FundThe Ontario Together Trade Fund (OTTF) provides financial support to help businesses with near-term investments so they can serve more interprovincial customers, develop new markets and re-shore critical supply chains in the face of U.S. tariffs. The intake period is
continuous, which means applicants can submit their application at any time while the program is open.

Homeowners in Sarnia, Brights Grove and Point Edward are eligible for exclusive, limited-time rebates, including free home energy assessments, insulation, draft proofing and electric heat pumps when they work with a program-approved contractor. Rebates are also available for windows and doors, heat pump water heaters and more.
