2024 CANTERBURY MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2024 edition of the Canterbury Match Play took place over Labour weekend at Pegasus Golf Club with Men's, Women's, Masters Men's, and u19 Men Championship titles being played for. World Amateur Ranking Points were also on offer for those in the Men's and Women's divisions.

COOPER MOORE WINS THE NZ AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Canterbury star Cooper Moore has won his maiden Men’s NZ Amateur Championship title in a thrilling final in Auckland on November 3rd which went all the way to the 36th hole! This marks the second successive year a Canterbury teenager has won the event following Seb May's triumph in 2023.

HAWARDEN GOLF CLUB CELEBRATE 100 YEARS

The Hawarden Golf Club celebrated their centenary recently at their 9-hole country golf course in the Hurunui region. Members and guests enjoyed an 18-hole round before celebrating their history with an evening dinner and function. Canterbury Golf President Dion Kerr was on hand alongside former Canterbury Golf President and Life Member Max Walker who was honored by the club on the night as a new Life Member.

After a season of hard-fought interclub action, we have reached the Finals Day of the respective Interclub competitions. The Central Canterbury Masters Final was played at Tai Tapu Golf Club on the 3rd of November in perfect weather and the course in superb condition. Read how the day played out - HERE.

With a number of interclub competitions completing round robin play over the past few weeks, MVP presentations have been taking place around the district, these have been awarded as follows:

• Pollock Cup: Merle Barley Salver - Nicky Webb (Christchurch) 5 wins from 5 matches
• Blank Cup: B O'Malley Salver - John Parlane (Clearwater) 8 wins from 8 matches
• Simon Cup: Roy Mitchell Salver - Joe Larson (Russley) 7.5 wins from 9 matches
• Thompson MacDonald Trophy: M.R (Max) Walker Trophy - Dale Uhrbom (Rawhiti) & Nelson Gaw (Coringa) 8.5 wins from 9 matches
• Canterbury Central Masters: Barry & Joanne Harkerss Tankard - Tony Davey (Lincoln) 4.5 wins from 5 matches
