Weekly Update

Issue 1: 7 January, 2021

Dear Partners

Welcome to the first weekly update from Tropical Fruit Direct for 2021.

Just when we were all starting to see the light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel, along comes the wet season and the first cyclone for growing regions in North Queensland.  Ex-Tropical Cyclone Imogen has delivered a large amount of rain in the last few days, but as they say "the show must go on".  We continue to work with our growers to support their efforts in continuing to supply fresh produce to our partners.

Nevertheless, we will inevitably experience some disruption in supply in the short term, and potential impacts on quality down the track.  In some areas, growers have had to suspend the harvesting of crops pending an improvement in weather conditions.  We have been advised that the Bruce Highway has now been re-opened at Ingham, which is great news.

As always, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like additional information.

Best wishes, Steve
